Building in exercise in a sedentary desk job

By the way, unless you're super active, losing weight mostly comes down to diet (assuming that's what your goal is). Although it doesn't hurt to be conscious of moving more to increase your overall calorie expenditure.

Ha, they're the low cubes where you can see everyone's head while sitting down. Just a sea of heads in either direction. Not my definition of heaven.

ugh. sorry. I have high cubes.

OP didn't talk about wanting to be thinner, just about being more active. Being sedentary is just really bad for you (no matter what your weight.)

So is being fat.

Standing at a desk isn't being active.

Did someone no this thread expound on the benefits of being fat? No. We're trying to answer OP's question here, which is about being more active.

OP here. I did actually mention that I'm putting on weight due to being so sedentary. But my concern is with the impact sitting and barely moving for 8+ hours is having on my body, not weight specifically.

I did 5-6 laps up and down the stairs today (on the 6th floor) and will look up some quick circuit routines tonight. I don't think I can do squats in the bathroom, but can probably find an empty office or secluded corner if I wander around the building. Thanks for your help, all!

Standing is not being active. Nor is it exercising.

I walk during my 2 15 mins when it’s warm outside. Right now we’ve hit the upper 90s so I just walk up and down the stairs in our building since it’s too hot.

There was a study recently about how a standing desk is barely better than sitting.. I have a standing desk but I barely use it.

To be healthy we're actually suppose to move around every hour. One work out session per day isn't enough per my PT. I "live" in a tall cube and do exercises. The few that have noticed are doing now too! May be we'll start a trend

I have a fitbit, and it buzzes when i've been inactive for more than an hour. That's a reminder for me to get up from my desk and go to the bathroom/fill my water bottle/print something just so I take a walk to the copier. My forced exercise is a commute. I have a 12 minute walk to the metro each way. So 25 minutes automatic walking per day.

Maybe not with those low cube walls, but for occupational therapy, every time I talked on the phone I did wrist curls with weights with the other hand. Now I don't use the bathroom on my floor but always the floor below for extra walking. I switched to a backpack and take the stairs in the parking garage and in my building.

I drink enough water to have to pee every 30 min max. I have to walk down a long hall to get to the bathroom. I never get a reminder on my watch to move around
