STA anti semitism expulsions

I think it would be pretty hard to screen for such a thing. And boys change between 4th grade and high school.

I don’t think you understand how private schools work. Some of the STA families are third and fourth generation. Lots of wealth and privilege. You also have a number of parents who are busy professionals who have outsourced parenting. Between wealth, privilege, and neglect, it’s possible to end up with some effed up kids.

An assorted variety: kids who have never been appropriately disciplined, kids who are pushed hard to achieve their parents’ dreams, kids who have material wealth but are emotionally neglected, kids who are not a good fit for the high pressure environment.

Any of these situations can create angry, effed up kids who strike out at others.

I'm not sure we are seeing a "resurgence" necessarily, but it seems that in the last couple of years, the neanderthals among us are allowing their atavistic impulses to come out into the open.

If they are Neanderthals then their impulses wouldn’t be atavistic

Yeah.... and ummm, your vision of private school comes from cheesy movies, dumb sitcoms, and after school specials.

Are you an idiot who can’t read? The OP cites their experience with the school as one of opacity and cover-up. Why would they call the school?

OP, school administrators often have to be opaque because of privacy issues. We are talking about minors, despite their horrible behavior. I can see how that might come across as a cover-up.

I hope they will send out a school-wide notice reaffirming how unacceptable this behavior is.

Wow I hope your kids learn their manners from someone other than you. You're a perfect example of how modern discourse has fallen off the rails. Well done!

Troubling STA parent response. Insult those on the thread who are genuinely concerned and care about the place and their child. Guess we know how their children will turn out.

Things like this happen all the time at every school. Stupid kids doing or saying stupid things. Many of the schools tend to sweep it under the rug which means you will most likely never hear about it and kids will continue to get away with things they shouldn't.

Agreed! Those were my thoughts as well.

Hello, Mr. Trump.

Way to completely twist what was said, play victim, then insult those who disagree with you.

Nope, years at the Cathedral schools. You are clearly the one who has no idea of private school culture.

Assuming they exist in 2018, presumably one could argue that the impulses would be atavistic, even if they are Neanderthal.

Hopefully not Sidwell.

Agree with the first sentence. But this doesn't happen everywhere. And it's not just "saying stupid things". We've never seen this at GDS or Mret where are kids/nephews are.

+1 We know more than several kids who fit this bill.

How do you know? Do their parents confide that their children think they are superior? Do you hear comments while the kids are on the playing field, at your house? I don't get it.

14:15, there are kids at STA who had issues even in their Beauvoir years. Beauvoir, perhaps understandably, has a very gentle, light approach to discipline. However, that’s where you start to see the issues. Kids who are primarily raised by nannies. Kids whose moms will make excuses for them, no matter what they do. Kids who are never held accountable for anything they do.

I agree with St. Ignatius - “Give me a child until he is seven, and I’ll show you the man.” Kids who have not received appropriate guidance and parenting in their early years will not magically become nice kids at STA.

The parents of the kids who made anti-Semitic comments have a lot to answer for.
