Why don’t people like blueberry pie?

There are higher quality cherries though. But blueberries are blueberries. I think they’re too mushy, people don’t like the texture. I like blueberry muffins but blueberry pie filling is very meh - just not worth the calories.

Blue berry pie is too cloyingly sweet. Same for the muffins. Also stains teeth and anything else it comes in contact with.

Also that blueberry compote or whatever restaurants and bakeries sometimes put on cheesecake makes me wanna vom. Ruins great cheesecake with that crap.

Blueberries are my least favorite fruit. I'm in no way a picky eater, but there's something about them that I can't stand.

Blueberry pie is a little intense for me, though I still enjoy it. The super-sweet blueberry flavor can be a bit much. I love blueberry crumble though, but cut down on the sugar (and add ice cream to make up for it).

In general though, pie is pretty much the best dessert in existence no matter what flavor. I just polished off a big pie of strawberry rubbarb, which i highly recommend to anyone wanting to make a seasonal dessert right now.

Where Can I get a good one around NOVA?

I haven't had their blueberry, but this place in Arlington has very good pies:

I love blueberry pie but you’re right about that compote stuff. The consistency is off. Like it has gelatin in it or something.

Fresh blueberry pie, delicious. The disgusting sweet stuff many restaurants, and most grocery store frozen pies are, yuck. Same for key lime pie, only homemade will do!

I love blueberry anything as long as it's not very sweet. Cooked raspberry though...yuck.

It's messy to eat, and blueberries stain.

As a regular fruit pie baker, it's the cherry (sour cherry) pies that are the most sought after among our friends and the most requested pie.

OP: I have mixed feelings on blueberry pies. When the blueberries are tart the pie can be wonderful. If the blueberries are not tart, it can be just sugary and bland.

Many people add tapioca or too much cornstarch to the blueberry filling to prevent it and I don't like that either. Then you have the people who don't like a lot of liquid in their pies and blueberry pies can be very liquidy.

I'd suggest that blueberries are perhaps the most difficult pie to pull off successfully. If it's not well done, it can be meh.

I love a good fresh fruit pie but many are made from canned fruit in syrup, which is awful.

Peach pie is much better. And strawberry rhubarb.

Nothing that a big heap of whip cream (or icecream) can't solve.
