I don't know exactly where you live, but looking at the walk zone I would imagine you are eligible for bus service. Most kindergarten ers love riding he bus. What planning unit are you in? |
And the school is exactly where it's always been. How is it not walkable now when it was when you decided to live here? |
You can walk to key easily. |
So hoping the schools will swap buildings. |
Well, mine took the bus and survived. |
Swapping makes no sense b/c they are still over enrolled for the ASFS zone no matter where they put the school. The key lottery change should have waited till Reed was built and the system could have distributed out students with that added capacity. No idea what the rush was to change Key to immersion lottery only, and toss 300 kids into ASFS which was already over capacity. |
Does the ASFS bus drop off at the bottom of these stairs? |
|
Actually I think they drop at the bottom of 14th and then kids walk up hill without a side walk, scale the playground fence, and enter around the trailers. Parkour Immersion. |
No!! The stairs are just a back entrance. The buses all drop off and pick up at the main entrance on Lincoln Street, which is a typical school entrance (except for the fact that in the past few years parents have paid thousands of dollars at the annual PTA auction to have this bus loop named after their kid but that is another story altogether). |
Can APS make exceptions and provide busing for parents with small children? Would it be considered a disability or special need? |
Another insufferable Clarendon mom. Imagine if you were a single mom living on welfare in South Arlington or DC. If you live near Clarendon you can afford other options, move or even get a j-o-b. Suck it up buttercup. |
Is this OP??? |
LMAO. No. The district is focusing right now on reducing bus costs. I'm surprised they don't just start charging for bus service. I grew up in CA and we always had to pay to use the bus. |
Good grief, no, that was not OP. |
