| I am another IUI success here! |
I was one of those people. Our insurance stipulated 3 IUIs before coverage began for IVF and my second IUI worked! FWIW, I was 39. |
| Worked for me twice, once we got the right meds for ovulation (fsh, not clomid). |
Sorry to hijack, but PP do you have pcos by chance? Would you mind sharing what your fsh dosages/length looked like? |
She recommended Clomid first, then injectables if it's not bringing enough follicles up. Also, solidarity fist bump! I hate that money= possible having more kids. If I had all the money in the world I'd just do a few banking cycles, PGS it, and then move on with my life. |
Oh good!! OK I know of PLENTY of people who had success with clomid/femara or injectables and IUI. I wasn't sure if you were already doing clomid cycles and were just talking about adding IUI too. But yes, I personally know of at least 6 clomid/femara babies! And injectables are supposed to be even more effective than that. (I totally know what you mean though. Going through cycles after cycle is so hard...) |
| IUI worked for us. PCOS. |
| I didn’t have success but know of several women who have gotten pregnant via IUI so you never know!! |
| I was successful on my third IUI attempt. We knew I wasn't ovulating so the main point of IUI for me was really taking the fertility drugs. Maybe medicated timed intercourse would have worked just as well. |

PCOS + male factor here.
For 1st child we tried 2 IUIs, unsuccessfully, and then had success with first IVF. The IUIs felt like a waste especially because sperm count was super low after the wash each time. 2nd child, we were able to boost sperm count by giving DH clomid, so tried IUI again. Worked on 2nd try. I think it’s a viable course of action particularly if your dx is PCOS or MFI or unexplained and you’re on the “younger” side so can afford to spend some time going through cycles. If not then I may say don’t bother with them. Definitely don’t do more than 3 if no pregnancy. If you’re dealing with DOR for example, I’d say go straight to IVF. |
Ditto to this. I WAS having periods so probably was ovulating at least sometimes, but we started meds and IUI together. My second one worked - I don't know if meds + TI would have done the trick but like a PP said we were maximizing chances |
Wow I had no idea men could take/benefit from clomid! |
There was an NFL a player who had a positive drug test bc he was taking clomid (as was his wife) - he was told it wasn’t on the banned substances list but apparently it was. Their business was all over the news, I felt bad for them. Anyway we had unexplained infertility and were successful with the second round of IUI! |
PP here whose DW had to move onto IVF. Also lesbians who were certain IUI would do it. She was 29. No luck after 6 rounds of IUI so had to move on to IVF. However most of our lesbian friends did have luck with IUI or even AI at home. |
| After 3 rounds of Clomid failed, I did shots + IUI. It worked on the first try and my baby is now 11. |
