Actually, I find that my purse is way heavier than other things. I can't find a link, but last year bought a small, light weight backpack with inner pockets. Was in another European country, one with fewer pick pockets than Paris, though. Incidentally, I have lived elsewhere in FR, and pick pockets are more common there for some reason than in some other N. European countries. I still bet chances are low (?), but I did a quick google search and found this from the State Department, which surprised me a bit: https://fr.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/pickpockets-paris-avoid-becoming-victim/ BTW, no matter what you do, you will stick out like a sore thumb as being a foreigner, which makes you a more likely target. I spent a year there...people didn't think I was American for some reason, but they knew I was not French...I have 'fond' memories of pan handlers saying this as I approached an ATM, "Mademoiselle, vous n'etes pas francaise, n'est-ce pas?" Luckily nothing happened to me, but, a tourist is obviously an easier target for them than a Parisian. |
