Just put your shit in a f^ucking bag. Who cares what it is. As long as it's airline friendly and your shit fits in it, what else is there to think about? You want to impress Parisians? Tie a scarf around the handle.
Ok scarf part made me legit LOL.
Totally agree with this. I have traveled all over the US and to various countries. I just use my purses rather than tote bags. That's it. I don't buy anything special. Same with shoes, same with clothes.
Actually, I find that my purse is way heavier than other things. I can't find a link, but last year bought a small, light weight backpack with inner pockets. Was in another European country, one with fewer pick pockets than Paris, though. Incidentally, I have lived elsewhere in FR, and pick pockets are more common there for some reason than in some other N. European countries. I still bet chances are low (?), but I did a quick google search and found this from the State Department, which surprised me a bit: https://fr.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/pickpockets-paris-avoid-becoming-victim/ BTW, no matter what you do, you will stick out like a sore thumb as being a foreigner, which makes you a more likely target. I spent a year there...people didn't think I was American for some reason, but they knew I was not French...I have 'fond' memories of pan handlers saying this as I approached an ATM, "Mademoiselle, vous n'etes pas francaise, n'est-ce pas?" Luckily nothing happened to me, but, a tourist is obviously an easier target for them than a Parisian.
