Do I have to already be in good shape to survive Orangetheory class?

I pay $149/month for unlimited at Potomac but I’m a founding member. I think unlimited is $169 per month now.

It's overrated OP and very hard on your joints. I would pass. Join the YMCA instead or work out at home.

Completely disagree. It's pretty low impact other than the treadmill, and you can choose to do the bike or elliptical instead of tread.

It is very motivational and a friendly environment. All fitness levels.

+1. Note the DC locations are about $50 more per month than VA and MD. If you can get it a studio at grand opening you can save about $20/month and go to any other MD and VA location for free (nationwide). There is a surcharge to visit more expensive locations like NYC and DC.

I also just started after years of not exercising. I like that there is a routine already in place so you don’t have to figure it out, and the mix of cardio and strengthening. I always avoid strengthening so it pushes me. There are lighter weights in the back of the room! Use them if you need them! There is a wide range of fitness levels in the two classes I tried; this helped me feel less self conscious about how out of shape I was! I will definitely go bac

I did it for a while and liked it, but it was expensive for only 2 classes a week, which wasn't enough. I got stronger, definitely, but didn't lose weight.

It also depends on the instructor. One made me feel bad that I wasnt keeping up (I would run, but at a slower pace, I would grab 5lb weights instead of 10). And I have a low resting heartrate....so I never stayed in the orange or whatever it was I was supposed to do, and she made me feel like it was because I wasn't working hard enough. I was killing myself and still couldn't get there, but it just wasn't calibrated for my body, so it was discouraging.
