No one loses 5 pounds in a month by eating cheese and cookies. Not even special ones. You have to do keto or a similar low carb program of basically chicken and vegetables and black coffee.

I'm the previous poster, and I'm a realist. Now, you can't have cheese or a cookie at a holiday party and go home and eat spaghetti for dinner. But the reality is, this is the holiday season, and OP will be at parties. If you are honestly expecting her to eat and drink literally zero at those parties, she's going to be miserable and fail after one week.

She may not lose 5 pounds in a month, but she'll lose 5 pounds by early in the New Year. And she'll keep going. If she has not one wine spritzer between now and Christmas, she's going to feel deprived, and give up.

A month is 4 weeks. Most normal weight loss programs aim for 1-2 lbs per week. I think 5 lbs in a month is reasonable.

Skip lunch. Eat slowly. Take tiny bites

This worked for me too. It's important thought to know that it really means nothing but water (maybe an herbal tea if you don't add sweetener).

Do a strong hour of workout at least four times a week (at least 2 should involve weights). Have a set cut off time for anything other than water (basically after dinner). When you make your plate, but a few bites back and then don't go back for seconds. Cut alcohol to 1-2 serving per week. These worked for me, but I was already eating healthy prior to making these changes.

No processed foods. Seriously none. I lost so much puffiness this way.

Eat only single ingredient foods. Don't eat any of the crap at holiday parties.

I've also found an hour of walking first thing in the morning on an empty stomach helps a lot.

I have two glasses of wine a night. I drop 5 very fast if I stop drinking.

That's not true. You could lose 5 lbs in a month if you ate 1000 calories of just cheese and cookies. You wouldn't be healthy, but with the calorie deficit, you'd lose weight.

Track using My Fitness Pal -- like a PP said, tracking has been eye opening for me. I eat a lot of random crap and the calories add up very quickly.

DO NOT skip lunch.

Eat protein and veggies for lunch. No sugar. No refined grains. Water.

Really, do this for every meal.
