I'm the 14:25 PP. I have not heard any "noise" about DCB replicating and consider myself pretty informed... are you a DCB parent and/or where have you heard this "noise?"

From a neighbor who works at the PCSB. It is early and perhaps the DCB board will decide not to move forward.

But its performance is strong, and there is a lot of pressure / encouragement for the Tier 1 charters, especially those that have proven they can serve a diverse student body, to serve more kids.

Our daughter is in PreK3 at DCB and we were told when we applied/enrolled (I know we are very lucky) that DCB students were guaranteed a spot, but that as other member schools added new campuses, those students may have to apply to their own schools' lotteries in order to gain spots at DCI. DCB has not added any classrooms or campuses, so does the preference vs. guaranteed spot apply to DCB students?

OP here. Students from DCI's feeders receive a preference to attend DCI, which means that they are essentially able to be bumped to the top of the waitlist. Based on our enrollment agreements with the feeders, we hold a certain number of seats for their alumni.

Be advised that some alumni are better prepared than others.

It is hard to take a school like DCI seriously when their website is more than 2 years out of date. What are the course offerings in 2017-18, not 2015-16?

isnt it absurd to think kids with no foreign language experience will be able to attend this school? yes I know they have to "take anyone" but it just makes the whole thing sound like a joke.

Even if you start a language at grade 6, you would have 7 years of study by the time you graduate high school. That's absolutely enough to pass a standard level IB language exam.

The DCI feeder students only take 2 of their core classes in the target language. If DCI was an immersion school this policy might be "absurd," but it's not.

Way to lump so many 11 years olds together.

This was asked years ago, and the answer was a strong no.

That is easy to do if you're racist.
