Rezoning Wootton and Churchill

What about Quince Orchard? Is it overcrowded? I'm in Wootton cluster, the northern side. And why do my kids get bussed all the way down to Cabin John for middle school?

I'd love to be rezoned to QO.

A significant number of Wootton students will end up at RM and Gaithersburg while Crown will take some from three different schools.

Where would RM put these kids? They are already overcapacity and their addition was just taken off track.

Fallsgrove and King Farm will get removed into Crown or Gaithersburg. RM will get Cold Spring or sections of Fallsmeade.

where are you getting these information?

From PP's imagination. Nobody knows.

You should go to CIP facilities and boundaries hearing of Wootton cluster on Nov 8. You can check the details here.

I really hope when they do this, that they really focus more on proximity and less about FARMS. This area has the worst traffic in the nation and yet we are also the only area that has boundaries that look like a spotted leopard and bus kids to schools past schools they can walk to.

If you check another other county's boundaries, it is nothing like ours. MCPS already has busses going all over for their costly (and wasteful) special programs. Let's keep costs down and think about the environment/community for the schools.

No, we aren't.

I would also love to understand this. We are closer to three other middle schools but are bussed to Cabin John.

I think it's more like some RM and Wootton students would be rezoned to Crown.

When is Crown HS supposed to be open?

Indeed... HoCo rezones every other year to keep the schools balanced.

eh... they do that to the Fallsgrove students too. Five buses pass by two under capacity ESs to get to RP, an overcrowded schools with six portable classrooms.

In 10 years probably. MCPS is ridiculously wasteful and slow in getting anything done

You can't even compare to Howard County. More than half of their high schools have less than 10% FARMS and all have less than 5% ESOL in every high school. Why? They aren't a sanctuary county. Even still, they DO NOT rezone to balance. Most of their schools are either far less than 10% FARMS or mid 30-40% FARMS. No in-between. Doesn't seem very balanced to me. And their worst high schools are better than average in MCPS. Why do you think so many middle and upper middle income are leaving MC for HC?

And mcps is 1 in 3 farms rate. In case you are not familiar with %, 1 in 5 = 20%, 1 in 3 = 33% (actually it's closer to 35%).

DP. I think that 20% counts as "much of a" FARMS percentage.

Feasibility studies to begin sometime in the next yr or 2, then construction will start 18 months after approval. Should be done in 5 years.
