Rezoning Wootton and Churchill

Has anyone been following latest from MCPS? Wootton is already over crowded with new construction in the area. They plan to build a new school at Crown and shift the boundaries. Western part of Wooton may go to Crown along with some from Churchill and Richard Montgomery. More Cabin John students may go elsewhere?

MCPS could do it but many WHS and CHS parents would complain.

It has happened before. Horizon hill, walking distance to Wootton was rezoned to RM.

Of course they are going to rezone neighboring school districts. The talk of a magnet school will not happen. That money is going to close the achievement gap.

The closer you live to your HS the safer. Besides Crown may be good afterall. However, colleges want to see some history.

Of course there will be rezoning if there is a new high school.

I'm astonished by the attitude that Crown HS will be bad. We're not even at the design stage yet, let alone construction, staffing, and zoning -- but people know it will be bad.

Churchill is far away from the new high school location and Wootton is in middle. Some portion of Wootton will surely go, but I don't think that any portion of Churchill will go to new high School. Is Churchill even overcrowded?

Fallsgrove and King Farm will get removed into Crown or Gaithersburg. RM will get Cold Spring or sections of Fallsmeade.

Once there is room at Churchill form the kids shifting to Wooton, there will be a shift of Whitman kids who live out that way to bring them back to Churchill like they originally were.
