Required to submit photo of HOCO dress before purchasing tixkefs

It's sad the school feels it needs to implement such a policy-- it was probably not just one kid's 'stupid action' but many... I agree that this should be the job of parents, but clearly the district thinks parents have abrogated their responsibility.

As I tell my kids, stupid school rules are usually the result of A) someone's really stupid action B) Someone getting hurt C) A pita complaining or D) a combination of the three.

Stupid school rules are the result of school administrators making stupid rules. School administrators were not forced to make this rule. A skimpy dress is a skimpy dress, not a gun to the head.

Yup. You could just publish a list of rules, and tell anyone that if their clothing violates the rules they won't be allowed in. Preclearing everyone's dress is stupid and unnecessary.

The solution to that problem is to require all students who come to the dance to bring a form signed by a parent or guardian -- yes, I allow my child to wear these clothes to the homecoming dance.

Is this a HoCo public school? Is this really legal for public schools in MD? I can see this being something a parochial school might do though.

Signed,

I would say it is way overstepping by the high school, BUT I saw a lot of appalling prom dresses on my FB feed last Spring. I am not usually a prude but oh my gosh some of these dresses were so tight and so skimpy!

Sorry, hoco is an abbreviation for HoCo. It's a public school, but not in Maryland.

I don't see the problem with it.

No, she said her hometown, probably not around here. HOCO was supposed to be homecoming.

Not just prom/homecoming. I was stunned by what 12 and 13 year old girls were wearing to Bar/Bat Mitzvah parties.
