| I am not prOud of it. |
Nice to see a parent from Over-rated has contributed. Anyone from Suckatoe, Cheaterbroke or McDLT have anything to share? |
They've won the D1 relay carnival and the All-star relays. Not so sure I'd call them Over-rated. Don't forget that they hold 29(!!) D1 championships. I'd called them Overlee OverAll.

You sound like an insecure child. |
I am. My parents didn't hug me enough. |
| For the record, Overlee is NOT in McLean. |
Correct. McLean is one of the areas it recruits from. |
for real? They have charter buses? |
wow.. now I see why these entitled kids are so obnoxious... |
I think the Overlee response was pretty appropriate to the nickname giver. |
Yeah but it kinda started with the person, presumably from Overlee, who used the capital "O" in the "I am not prOud of it" comment. Just shows the arrogance. |
| I wouldn't presume the prOud commenter is actually from Overlee. Anyway, people take summer swimming way too seriously. |
| ^^Dont you mean Division 1 teams take summer swim too seriously?! Everyone else in the NVSL demonstrates good sportsmanship. Hoarding seats, recruiting so they can win and obnoxious behavior is NOT good sportsmanship, but the D1 teams don't understand or see it that way. It is supposed to be fun...win or lose. |
| Our kids swim for a very strong NVSL team, not in Division 1. What am I most proud of? Aside from the kids being double winners some weeks and attaining personal bests, I am most proud to see them extend their hand after each race to the swimmer(s) in the next lane(s). The character-building that comes from training, putting the hard work in, and, IMO most importantly, congratulating the swimmer next to you who beat you, or the one who lagged behind, is why we as parents encourage our kids to swim and compete. If it's all about winning, I do not want my kids on that team. There are so many exceptional swimmers in the NVSL - congrats to them, and may they model positive sportsmanship for their teammates, their competitors, and for the young kids who look up to them. |
Sounds like you have the priorities correct and understand what it's all about. However, I venture to say the perception (whether fair or not) of most other teams in NVSL is that the Division 1 teams are arrogant and obnoxious. Whether it a vocal minority at each pool or a culture in Division 1 I'm not sure, but just realize that many if not most other teams and pools in NVSL have this view. And no, it's not jealousy. The sooner that NVSL leadership recognizes this and acts upon it, the better for all of the league. |
