IVF gets you a baby. Sex selection lets you choose what kind of baby you get. One is very much playing god compared to the other. I can't actually believe this is legal. |
Thank you. I say it over and over, and my fellow Americans are still too stupid to know/ learn the difference between sex and gender. |
I'm 12:04. Why wouldn't it be legal? Do you not think IVF is "playing God?" |
YOU are on the fence. Your husband has made his wishes clear. OP, you don't get it. |
You mean sex. You cannot select gender. |
For 99.9 percent of babies it's gender. Transgender people are an extremely small percentage of the population. Stop acting like all babies are born transgender. |
You realize "sex" and "gender" have been different terms with different meanings for years, right? Or not? |
not the poster who said "Playig god", but for IVF you don't have a choice. and for sex selection you do. and this creates possibility of regret. |
The ethics of this are so gray. You may think you're just selecting sex now and then in 10 years when your child has a genetic problem you're questioning your decision. There are so many more important things than sex. It will be interesting when we start selecting for those. Interesting and terrifying. I suppose Pandora's box is already open. |
I didn't get to choose the sex of my second child, but if I had, I would have chosen a boy, just because my first was a boy and I loved him so much. But of course now I love the girl I got, and I'm so glad she is ours. You'll love whoever you end up having. If your husband doesn't want to choose, I would respect that. |
So what? I'm supposed to go with his wishes just because he said so? If that's the case, I wouldn't even have DD as he also made his wishes clear that if we couldn't have a child naturally, he was okay not doing Ivf. Because he knows how much I want a child and went through with it. Guess what? He's so in love with our little girl now and has absolute no regret going through with it. I'm the kind of person who wants to examine pros and cons of stuff and don't want to make that decision so hastily. |
IVF is playing god because you are not supposed to have a child but science makes it possible. That's why a lot of religious ppl willl not go through IVF. |
Do religious people not wear glasses if they are nearsighted, as well? |
Yes, you do have to respect his wishes here. You both have to agree to it, just like you both have to agree to having the transfer. Sounds like you need to work on your marriage. |
Sounds like you are an asshole. Leave her alone. |
