APS - Did anyone go to any of the three "Walk Throughs" regarding the High School options?

In a few years all high school students will be taking classes online in Arlington and high school will look very different for all students.

I can't figure out if this is a Chicken Little scenario or if I should be looking to move to west on 66.

This is the Assistant Superintendent for Instruction back when she worked for that hotbed of educational excellence, North Carolina. APS liked what it saw:

They Have literally said that online learning and shifts are the future. They have said it. Don't get me wrong, I initially thought it was some sort of strategy. APS was throwing out terrible ideas, to mobilize parents. Help get a ground swell of support, to ask for land.
They DID NOT ASK FOR THE VHC PARCEL. They didn't even ask for it.
We all need to wake up and realize they have no intention of dealing with this. There is no secret plan. THe secret is: THERE IS NO PLAN.
Except getting enough of us to move away.
So, that's the plan. Hoping some of us move.

I am really starting to hate Arlington.

I've hated it for a long time. I've been planning our escape for a few years now. I refuse to go further away from DC or to a suburb.

It might have to be an out of state move.

Ironically, I posted my move plans right after this.

I wholeheartedly agree. They suck and will do nothing.

They are f@cking crazy if they think my 14-18 year olds will be taking online courses.

Based on my DC's experience with online language, this would be a complete nightmare...

Of course it will be, but they're not going to have any other option because they've kicked the can for too long and the kids are here. Can't fit 10 pounds of potatoes into a 5 pound sack, so online courses and shifts it is. Unreal. And that they would try to spin it as if it's anything other than a complete failure is beyond reason.

"Beyond reason" has become the APS operating principle.

Although, to keep it hip like the kids today demand, they spell it Byond Reason. (Like Aspire2Excellence, and just as stupid.)

Dudes, this is what they mean when they say "Arlington way". Maybe it used to mean something else, but now it means FU.

So, what do you do? It doesn't seem like anything other than massive protests (more than just matching shirts) will accomplish anything.

I don't know what we'll do and I am hoping that a lot of people move away. I don't think that's realistic, though. We are here b/c the schools *are* good ( i LOVE our elementary), we like being able to walk instead of drive for a lot of trips and the commute means we get to spend time with our family instead of other commuters stuck in traffic. I saw a new community out in LC a few weeks back that looks charming, but I realized we'd never see our kids until the weekend b/c we'd be in traffic for hours and hours a week. I wish we could afford private.

I don't think even massive protests, unless they're from the current Nancy supporters, will help. And even Nancy's tantrum didn't turn them around, I don't know what will, unless it's being forced to admit they their entitled attitudes have not only screwed over residents south of 29, but the "I got mine" contingent, too.

We need SB members who can crunch data (or at least ask for and understand the crunching) and deliver bad news, and we need voters who demand that. NVD can't deal with large-scale planning and PKM has no idea how to support teachers -- he's a score-chaser. Until they're both gone, we're fucked.
