Women: What to wear on a first date?

Anonymous
My last first date I wore a grey cotton J. Crew sundress (a little cleavage, but knee-length) and flat black sandals.

This was for beers on a patio.

We're married.

My first date I wore a black silk shift/tank dress with an asian pattern on it. Very sheer-ish and luxurious. Flat sandals (i'm already 5'10") hair down. long earrings

Been together ever since

This sounds like a feminine hygiene product advertisement.

I've met only one 50-year-old who showed up in a sundress, she was in shape for it, and she was memorable.

No panties. Even if he can't tell, you'll know.

LOL. With wings!

OP, as a few PPs said: smile, be open, positive, relaxed... something feminine helps to wear but only if you feel comfortable in it. I went to the first date with my husband at a swanky cocktail bar in a black Patagonia quick dry dress and flat sandals. That was as formal as I could handle. Needless to say, it went well.

Where are you going? And is it during the week or weekend?

My first date I wore a pink long sleeved rash guard with jean shorts ( mid way to my knees) and flip flops ( the ones with a 1-2 inch heel). Dh recently said he was wondering WHY I was wearing such a weird outfit but he loved my long legs. We even talked about my love of spf clothes and sunscreen on the first date. Be yourself and wear whatever makes you feel good! Show a little skin too.

We're going to Sweetwater (I think that's what's it called) and on Saturday night.

1. How old are you what a 26 year old wears on a date is different from a 36 year old or a 46 year old.

2. Where are you going and what are you doing for the date?

3. In general be the best version of you, so if you are typically jeans and t-shirt you may not want to wear a dress. But you wear a nice fitted pair of jeans, a nice top and style your hair.

LOL Men don't notice shoes at all. You could wear a low cut dress and be barefoot and he wouldn't care.

I wore flats and still got the man. Heels aren't me. I don't wear them in everyday life, ever. So I'm not going to wear something I'd never wear otherwise. Take me as I am, or bye.

OP: What types of clothes do men find attractive?
Men: Heels!
PP: Screw you, no one can make me wear heels!

No one showed up at your home to demand that you to wear heel. The OP specifically asked about what to wear to appear attractive to her date. I tend to agree that flats are unfeminine and heels are more attractive.

I'd love to never shave and wear sweatpants all the time, but if I posted on a forum asking people for advice on what to wear, I'd expect the women to give me honest feedback about what they think is attractive.

I'll add in context, that footwear is of relatively low importance to me but to the extent it matters, heels are more attractive
