The OP specifically asked about what to wear to appear attractive to her date. I tend to agree that flats are unfeminine and heels are more attractive. I'd love to never shave and wear sweatpants all the time, but if I posted on a forum asking people for advice on what to wear, I'd expect the women to give me honest feedback about what they think is attractive.
