Isn't The Mick kind of innapropriate?

I feel like we likely disagree about a lot in life but I'm actually kind of surprised at the amount of people who don't see this as bad

Are you also in favor of banning the saying "spick-and-span?" Will you start a thread about the racism of the English language for using the words "black" and "dark" to mean negative things?

The show isn't called, 'Mick' or 'Mickey' its called THE MICK. Dougie Houser wasn't called, 'The Dougie'; Mary Tyler Moore wasn't called, 'The Mary'.

I would think a show called, 'The Dark One' about a black person was kind of racist too. Spick and span is in no way shape or way referring to a human being, its a colloquialism that means clean.

But it was The Mary Tyler Moore Show

The word 'show' finishes the subject of 'the'

She's also portrayed as a drunken irresponsible lout, basically every negative Irish stereotype

NP but please stop being purposefully obtuse.

Everyone in this thread knows exactly what the OP meant and why "The Mick" is a slur for Irish people.

What if it was "The Bean" and the lead named "Benedicta Mary Josefina" was nicknamed "Bean" by her stereotypical mexican father. That would irk me as a hispanic and it should irk everyone.

A show called "The Chink" starring an Asian-American wouldn't fly.

Yes. A show starring white people, created by white people, and written by white people is racist against white people. They are secret agents working against their own race!

"Wanda Octavia Pannunzio is a single gal in the big city, watch her try to find love under the big pizza pie in the sky - in The WOP." 5 stars, not bigoted at all

Give me a break. If this were anything but a white character people would be boycotting, protesting and blaming Trump.

You know all white people aren't Irish, right? I mean, I'm sure we all look alike to you, but actually we come from different places.

Thank you for letting me know! I didn't know before, actually, despite being part Irish myself. The more you know!

Please seek help for your anger issues. It can't be good for your blood pressure.

I prefer not to wallow in imagined victimhood. No loathing, no guilt, no worries.

That MTV "Dear White Men" or whatever video got well-deserved flack around the new year? Racist and stupid.
This show? Meh.
