Yes. A show starring white people, created by white people, and written by white people is racist against white people. They are secret agents working against their own race!

You know all white people aren't Irish, right? I mean, I'm sure we all look alike to you, but actually we come from different places.

Thank you for letting me know! I didn't know before, actually, despite being part Irish myself. The more you know!

Enjoy your self loathing and white guilt while you enjoy "The Mick!"

Please seek help for your anger issues. It can't be good for your blood pressure.

I prefer not to wallow in imagined victimhood. No loathing, no guilt, no worries.

That MTV "Dear White Men" or whatever video got well-deserved flack around the new year? Racist and stupid.
This show? Meh.

I bet you are insufferable at parties. I throw the same sarcasm back at you and I have anger issues.

OP, I agree with you. I'm not particularly bothered by it because I don't see a lot of anti,-Irish sentiment anymore. (I'm Irish and had older relatives that definitely did experience this, though and would have hated this.)

I feel the same way about Cracker Barrell as a restaurant though. I'm not Southern but I alwysys feel like it's like having a pizza place called "WOP Pies"....

Wow.

A couple of years ago, a conservative started a satirical campaign to change the name of Cracker Barrel- he did it to poke fun of liberal PC-ism run amuck.

I didn't know it had basis in reality.

Op here. Cracker barrel has an interesting etymology and I don't think the intent was to refer to white people at all when naming it although I do see how people see it that way

It's too late. Wang Lee Hom, Mandopop star, already created a genre of music called chinked-out. (It's traditional Chinese musical styles mixed with hiphop/r&b/pop. There was some hoopla when this music first came out. But not enough since his music sales were not really negatively impacted . At this point, I think the term has been reasonably "reclaimed."

Anyways, not by bothered by chink.

I'm Irish and not offended in the least. Mick is a nickname for some Irish people in my experience.

OP, I agree. I think it is offensive.

It's a pretty funny show. Inappropriate - totally! I love the housekeeper.

I'm op and I'm pretty Irish and I'm offended, obviously. So you don't speak for all of us.

Oh and how do you not know it's a derogatory term? When you Google it, right under the Wikipedia page for the show is the Wikipedia article on the derogatory term and the urban dictionary article. Are you actually Irish? Maybe it's not a slur in Ireland but as an Irish American I'm pretty surprised you didn't know that

Right. You started this thread so obviously you're in a tizzy. I didn't say I speak for all Irish people. I imagine if you were actually oppressed the name of a silly tv show wouldn't have such a great impact on your life.

I don't know what that means, and was not aware this was an Irish slur. Pretty sure the majority of people living in this country don't know either.

I wasn't joking about Google. The results are basically just the show and the history of the term. You're right I'm not oppressed but I still think it's kind of effed up there is a show on national television that is literally named a slur.

The OP doesn't want any differing opinions, just wants everyone to agree that it's an outrage.

OP, I'm being sincere- take this complaint to the Breitbart comments section. They have boycotted many companies/shows that they perceive as anti-white. Tell them about this anti-Irish injustice and they will perhaps get a boycott going and get publicity behind it. Many people will agree with you. You'll have better luck there than trying to force everyone on DCUM to slavishly agree with you.

I'm not white or Irish, but I agree with you.
