The show isn't called, 'Mick' or 'Mickey' its called THE MICK. Dougie Houser wasn't called, 'The Dougie'; Mary Tyler Moore wasn't called, 'The Mary'.

I would think a show called, 'The Dark One' about a black person was kind of racist too. Spick and span is in no way shape or way referring to a human being, its a colloquialism that means clean. [/quote]

Everyone in this thread knows exactly what the OP meant and why "The Mick" is a slur for Irish people.

What if it was "The Bean" and the lead named "Benedicta Mary Josefina" was nicknamed "Bean" by her stereotypical mexican father. That would irk me as a hispanic and it should irk everyone.[/quote]
