| We make that together and pay for a nanny. So if it was one income and no childcare it would be awesome. Granted travel with 3 kids would be expensive no matter what. What are you spending it on? What's your mortgage? |
| Maybe fewer kids and more jobs? |
| 225k with no daycare, extended care, or camp sounds amazing!!! |
Which of her children should she kill? |
+1 And we have 3 kids. Although we do have a smaller house than most of our friends. If we had another 60k in income, we could afford quite a few splurges. |
Same, we have 2 kids |
Many DCUMers pay more than that in taxes. |
| Staying home is the one luxury we can't afford, but I'm 99% op is a troll. |

Beats being unemployed and living in poverty.
You need to give your husband more respect. |

+1. If she's not a troll, she's an ungrateful witch. |

I can see what you are saying. We are temporarily a 1 income home. DH recently lost his job and we are living on my income of 240k. He brought in 200k. We are far from the poor house, but the 240 vs 440k income is a very wide gap. If you are hanging out with friends making 400k+, then yea, you are in different worlds.
I will say though stop your whining. I work because I like the good life and know how to make it happen for myself. I can't leave my dreams in the hands of a man. |
Learn to budget better Get new friends Don't let friends spending habit affect you Figure out a way to make more money Make a gratitude list Try saving $2k more a month for a year, then add back 50%to your budget - you will find it luxurious. Lots of options $225k is more than our single income household has ever made and we haven't felt we have missed out on things. |

We make similar, but no, I don't feel that way. I feel we have enough money that we don't want for anything. I know we live in a HCOL area. I think there are a very few people who have a large inheritance or whose parents bought them a house so I would just keep telling myself that. You also choose to stay home so I would also keep telling myself that.
We have to make cuts because I recently took a part time job, reducing our income. We have two decent cars that work. I personally would not be any HAPPIER with a fancier car. I like taking family vacations but I think our family can get as much happiness going on an east coast beach vacation in the summer as going to a ritzy resort. We have 3 kids and a modest 4 bdrm house - that is enough room. I don't think having a larger house would add to my happiness. I know people make more than us, but I also think people spend more than us. We save for retirement and college. When you have a job you can choose how to spend your money and I feel happy with our choices. Good luck to you. |
Up to her. Probably the fattest, or the stupidest? But most of us can foresee this before we have a third child....that's why we stick to one or two. |
