It's her boyfriend. How is offering up the goods contradict with any principle of self-respect?

She put a dollar amount on his work and then offered up a payment.

He saved me probably $250.

After he did this, I asked him what I could give him as "payment" I was ready to treat him in anyway he wanted, ANYTHING.

His response was, no thanks.

1. Work on your communication skills - he obviously didn't pick up the message!
2. He had another "dishwasher" to service.
3. Next time call Maytag - it will cost you $250 but they will service you.

She didn't put a dollar amount on his services--she out "payment" in quotes like I just did. And then she said ANYTHING in caps.

Maybe he wanted actual money?

Wives offer up their thanks for husbands services all the time. There is nothing wrong with it.

You know, it is OK for a man to turn down sex every now and again. Don't take it personal OP. Don't look to create a fire where there is no smoke.

Omg, if this post had said "my husband" instead of my boyfriend, you know the responses would have been all focused on him either cheating or being gay for his decline of her offer OR the responses from married men would have been "I wish my wife would offer that when I help around the house".

Who cares.

Op glad your dishwasher is fixed.

Next topic!

Digression alert: Anytime I fix something around the house, I go up to my wife afterwards (kids out of earshot) and indicate to her that I'll have a bill for her shortly. Being the good sport that she is, she generally will overly dramatically point out that she doesn't have enough money to cover the repair and whatsoever will she do ... We always have a good laugh and I always give her the opportunity to "pay off the bill" later that night.

THIS is cute.

+1, I'm so grateful my husband is handy and can fix our fridge, dishwasher and washer. Next time you go out to dinner, treat him.

OP - just a slight tweak might have had better success:

When you were saying thank you and going in to plant that thank you kiss, grab his crotch and say "how about letting me work on your pipes?" with an accompanying sly smile.

I knew my marriage would soon be over when after I changed the oil in my wife's car she said, "what do you want, a medal?"

Wrong thread. Think you meant to post in this one:

When did you know it was time for a divorce?
