| Wow. Scary! What is the director saying? I would want to know what their plans are for safety precautions and what the police think is the reason -- i.e. is it being specifically targeted, or was it a fluke (i.e. shooting at something else and missed), or it is an active shooter shooting through random windows, etc.? Maybe police won't tell you right now, either because they don't know or want to keep that info private for now. But either way, I would want to know the plans before sending my kid back. I know the chances are fairly low of it happening again, but not knowing what the cause was or who did it would make me very uneasy. |
| We have been at this center almost since it opened years ago, and my son loves his teachers and friends - great experience on that front, but the management side needs help. The incident investigation is ongoing - we are keeping our son out until we know more. A lot of great families who currently go to this center are struggling with making a decision about what to do next. I hope that this situation can be resolved soon so that we can stay at/return to the center. |
How is this typical? |

Gads this is scary. I work in Skyline Towers. We had a problem with women being assaulted in the parking garage 2-3 years ago. But this is a new one. And the area is generally safe during the workday.
No-- until they figure out why someone shot at a daycare, I would not send my kid back. It's not rational, but moms often aren't. That said, much of this complex is federal, including DOJ and SSA, so the surveillance should be pretty good and the security should be stepped up. Hopefully, they catch the guy quickly. |
| I would be highly uncomfortable sending my child there since it doesn't appear that they know whether it was random or targeted. |
| Also, not to sound superstitious, but I avoid skyline towers. The building collapsed during construction, killing 14 people; the 9/11 hijackers lived there; it's crime infested despite being affluent. After a while, it's not a coincidence. |
| My friend has a son who attends BH Skyline. She said there were three bullets, not one. |
Yes we go there. There were 3 bullets. One in the preschool room and two in vacant offices on floors not connected to the daycare. It just sucks, who knows if they will ever catch the guy and daycare isn't easy to find. Especially for multuple kids.
|
| We actually used to send our girls there in the spring and it was terrible. Our baby was left to cry on the floor so often that she started getting a bald spot on the back of her head and lost 2 lbs! When we dropped our oldest off, the teachers aides were always talking to each other and never helped engage students. We were so happy to transfer it of there. Good luck. |
| Where did you end up sending your kids? |
| Our child goes there and after that cluster fuck we are looking elsewhere. It's overpriced for the service. Keep looking. We are. |
|
I would take him out and move, but that's just me. |
I agree, too. How frightening! |
| I just took my daughter out of care here at BH Skyline. So many issues (on top of the shooting) - they would leave my daughter for hours on the floor, were not feeding her bottles every 2.5/3 hours like they were instructed to, they laid my daughter on top of a boppy pillow zipper side up and the skin on the back of her head was rubbed raw and bleeding. Both directors knew about this and wouldn't file an incident report. They kept making mistakes on the daily report app so I felt like I couldn't trust what was going on with my daughter. I'm really upset over everything and we ended up finding a nanny. |
| PP we had similar issues with our daughter in the infant room, and as a result were already about to move our kids even before the bullet came through the window. |
