Never |
| Once every two years? It's a really really special occasion to have someone else do it. |
| Special occasions or family photographs only. $40-50, I go to DryBar (so infrequently I cannot remember what they charge) |
| I get a blowout 2x/month but would do it every day if I could. Why are blowouts bad for your hair? I'm confused-if you blow dry your hair every day anyway (which is the case for me, and my hair is super healthy), what difference would it make who blow drys it? |
| when I get a hair cut (3-4 times a year) and for special events (another 2tkmes usually). Excessive heat is bad for your hair. I don't blow dry mine at home. It's curly and I wash it when I come home from work in the evenings (not every day) and it air dried before bedtime. |
How can you not understand the difference PP? How old are you? I have very healthy hair as well. It's thick and it's curly. The intensity of the heat needed to do a blow out is damaging to your hair. Sure I blow dry my hair all the time. But when I get a blow out, the person doing it is putting the drier right up to my hair and holding it there for longer than I can do. In order for my hair to stay straight, it needs a lot of heat. I can't get to the back of my head the way someone else could. |
I think it depends on the hair and the operator of the hair dryer. I also get blowouts 2x/month but always with the same person, and my hair is super healthy and undamaged. If I had different hair and/or a stylist who used the dryer too long on the ends it could be damaging. |
| I guess when they dry my hair when I get it cut that counts? So 2x/year. |
This is why I don't go to drybar. They fry your hair! You need to find a stylist who will blowout your hair but use some caution and not fry it. Drybar doesn't have any vested interest in your hair - they just want it to look good post blowout. They don't care if they damage it. Someone at a salon you see on a regular basis will care. |
I'm the PP who was confused and I am 44 years old, for whatever reason someone wanted to know. This is why I was confused-while I do go to a blow dry bar (not my salon) for my blowouts, I always see the same person. She shampoos/conditions, then combs out (very carefully and with a very wide comb), then blow drys with a good round brush, does not put the blow dryer right up to my hair-etc. She blow drys just like I do and is very careful with my hair. She isnt one of the "kids" who works at the blow dry bar--she's a prior hairdresser. So yeah, I guess if someone does not care and ruins your hair, that would be bad... |
| Every week - but I don't wash it other than my blowouts. If I do a really hard workout I wet the roots and blow dry and then use dry shampoo. |
| I get mine done every 5 days. $40 with tip. It's not bad for my hair. You must have really thin hair PP. |
gross and it doesn't really work either. |
Having curly, thick hair that you are straightening is different than someone like myself who has fine, straight hair. I never get just a blow out, but when I get a hair cut and they blow dry it, it probably takes ten minutes. It doesn't require high heat and it's not nearly the amount of pulling as if I were having curls pulled out. |
PP, I think you're confused. You'll never need a blow-out if you already have straight hair. You just blow it dry, and it's straight. Whether you have it done at the salon or you do it yourself, it gets straight. With my thick curly hair, I can never my hair as smooth and straight as the stylist can. People who are posting here saying they're getting a blow-out every week are subjecting their hair to high heat and pulling more often than the person. They can't get that look on their own. |
