I get a blowout 2x/month but would do it every day if I could. Why are blowouts bad for your hair? I'm confused-if you blow dry your hair every day anyway (which is the case for me, and my hair is super healthy), what difference would it make who blow drys it?
How can you not understand the difference PP? How old are you? I have very healthy hair as well. It's thick and it's curly. The intensity of the heat needed to do a blow out is damaging to your hair. Sure I blow dry my hair all the time. But when I get a blow out, the person doing it is putting the drier right up to my hair and holding it there for longer than I can do. In order for my hair to stay straight, it needs a lot of heat. I can't get to the back of my head the way someone else could.
Having curly, thick hair that you are straightening is different than someone like myself who has fine, straight hair. I never get just a blow out, but when I get a hair cut and they blow dry it, it probably takes ten minutes. It doesn't require high heat and it's not nearly the amount of pulling as if I were having curls pulled out.
PP, I think you're confused. You'll never need a blow-out if you already have straight hair. You just blow it dry, and it's straight. Whether you have it done at the salon or you do it yourself, it gets straight. With my thick curly hair, I can never my hair as smooth and straight as the stylist can. People who are posting here saying they're getting a blow-out every week are subjecting their hair to high heat and pulling more often than the person. They can't get that look on their own.
