We have had much communication with many AARTs and administrators concerning CogAT scores over the past few days.
We have just received word from the Office of Student Testing that they are able to expedite the 2nd grade CogAT score reports with the testing company so that your school should receive them by Friday. The scores for grades 3-7 will not be available until next Wednesday, January 11th.
Please discuss this update with an administrator so that your front office staff is at the ready to mail pool letters and scores on Friday or Monday when you receive them (given the tight timeline with referrals due on Jan. 13). If you are fielding many parent inquiries, please continue to advise parents not to wait for CogAT scores to put forth a referral if they want their student to be screened for level IV services.
The timeline for this is always tight, which is why we advise parents not to wait for scores in submitting a referral in all communications. Although the Office of Student Testing gets test scores as early as possible, the testing company takes additional time to prepare the score reports that are sent home to parents. All of this happens in a window that ensures our compliance with both the state regulations about test administration and our ability to hold a screening process early enough to provide acceptance for placement numbers to principals in early May to put them in the best position for staffing for the following school year.
Thank you for your patience and your assistance in communicating this information to your administrators, front office staff, and parents.
Thanks for the info. Do you know the benchmark score for this year?
