So that's why your parents had you. |
| OP, please keep in mind that many of us voted for Trump with exactly this knowledge. HRC appointing justices would have been a true disaster for this country, one from which we may not have recovered. |
|
Nobody has seen the future. Trump is 70, if he keeps up his shenanigans he could be gone in 1 year, there are no guarantees. Doesn't matter how much Rust Belt people cry, Trump can't restore their former glory, especially if education and college is beneath them but all over the world politicians have courted the uneducated and the poor.
I actually want Trump to last 4 years and I want to see and hear "how" his voters lives improved. |

I am worried, no question about it.
But the thing is this: chances in 2020 were going to be less favorable, not more favorable for the Democrats, had Hillary won. Looking at historical data, in the modern period never has one political party held the Presidency for 16 consecutive years. Would the Republican Senate have appointed Scalia replacement and/or other SC judges as they died off or simply refused to do so till 2020? Not sure. And for sure, 2018 would have been worse for Democrats had Hillary won, so Senate would have been even more conservative. More here: http://thefederalist.com/2014/09/04/history-is-not-on-the-democrats-side-in-2016/ Who knows, maybe these oldies will stick around till 2020 (make that 2019- we can pull a Garland and let "the new president decide"), and then maybe Democrats have a shot at winning in 2020, and appoint someone they like. Also, let's say we get a Super Duper Conservative Court. Let's say the overturn RvW... ...that could be the end of the evil alliance between GOP and Evangelicals. A lot of single issue pro-life voters might feel free to explore other options. OR seeing their rights in jeopardy in the Red States, women who are fiscally conservative but socially liberal might feel compelled to now vote for Democrats. For every action, there is a reaction. A more Conservative SCOTUS will cause "action" to flourish in other places, like States and Federal Legislature, etc. |
| Of course we realize, why the FUCK do you think we were so against a Trump presidency?? |
Yeah it would have been very hard for you to recover from women keeping reproductive rights
|
Nothing will change that? The SC has already ruled that States can place "reasonable" restrictions on abortion. This week the Ohio legislature passed a "heartbeat" bill that was vetoed by Kasic on the grounds that a legal battle would be too costly to defend. With a 7-2 SC the court would surely uphold that law from a lower decision. Don't say nothing will change that. |
Umm, what legal reason would cause the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade? In what way was it wrongly decided? |
Quite common for women. Men tend not to carry the weight in marriages as far as household and familiial chores are concernned - that burden tends to fall to women. Unmarried women who are free of those same duties can likewise get ahead in their careers just like men. I work in academia and it's remarkable to compare the difference in numbers of tenured or advanced women who are not married or don't have kids or have only one to those women who are married and have more than one child. And then look at the men, where those differences are nowhere near as pronounced. In other words, if you have a wife, then having kids doesn't seem to penalize your career much. But if you have a husband and kids, it surely seems to. |
She actually looks like dead woman walking! |
| What makes you think Trump will go ultra conservative? He lied about everything during his campaign. Also, he is NOT, AND NEVER HAS BEEN, a Conservative! We've already been told not to believe what he says. |
+2. OP, would you mind telling us their skin colors and religions and favourite underwear? That'd help us so much to see what's going on. |
OP is not a Dem |
| I think RGB could easily serve well into her 90s and she's sharp as a tack. |
His replacement for Scalia will be conservative. Any other appointments may be less so. |
