| Get off the Internet and talk to a real human being at the post office. Even if it means you have to go there. Stop looking at the status updates online! Sometimes you have to get on the phone. |
You need to simmer the hell down. The hell you've been through with these people has nothing to do with slow delivery from the USPS. If you seek help for this situation behaving in this belligerent manner, you're going to find more resistance than assistance. |
| USPS tracking is terrible. It's so inaccurate that it's almost useless. Go to the post office. They probably have it there or can find it. |
| ^^pp here, I had a similar delivery issue last year with a replacement drivers license. Same weird tracking messages. It was delivered. |
| Attorney should have fed ex it. Have him deal with it. As of now, he has your money. |
Not to mention that this is a rather busy time of the year for the Post Office. |
+1. Not sure why OP's first instinct wasn't to call the post office. USPS isn't withholding your check intentionally. |
Because this site is the "problem solver" for everything in life. 19K for rent? Seriously? That is ridiculous in itself. If you got cashier's checks before, why couldn't the attorney (or you) call the bank of the renter and have them re-issue the check? As others have said, go to the post office, you have the tracking information, they should be able to help. |
In OP's defense, sounds like the 19K was for three months of rent. That's still crazy high, though. Surprised someone paying that sort of rent has trouble paying the bills. |
OP here. Thanks for the advice everyone. I am for sure going to put this on the attorney to sort out, that said I am also going to check with the post office as well. I can see that this is turning into a judgement on me and my actions, so I will quietly go away at this point. I really appreciate all the advice. Will post and update if the check ever shows up. |
I agree with this 100%. I have never, never, never received accurate information from USPS tracking. There is this thing called Christmas that a lot of people are having items shipped for & USPS can barely handle the amount of mail the other 1 months of the year. You need to chill out, wait until Wed, and then make some calls. |

The attorney sent the check so technically, he should be the one to track it down.
The USPS, as others noted, are terrible with their online updates - ignore them. Definitely contact the post office, be super nice and they will be able to help you track it down. Good luck! |
Whadda ya wanna bet that if he did, OP would be posting here, furious that her attorney spent $12.5, or whatever it is, on Fed Ex? |
Certified mail is not considered insecure. FedEx used to like to fling envelopes into my open garage - found a 5 figure check once they had managed to wedge behind some firewood. No system is perfect. |
If you can't take a 3 month hit on rent for a rental property, you should not be in the landlord business. Just sayin... |
