Is there any basis for zodiac signs?

I'm a science-y person so I don't believe in things like astrology. However:

1. A girl in my high school could guess people's sign and was correct most of the time. I suppose she could have looked up and memorized everyone's birthdays (she transferred in so she had only known everyone a couple months), but it was weird.

2. My yoga teacher spent years studying in India and one of his teachers was a Vedic astrologer. People would come in with the date and location they were born, and the astrologer would read their horoscope. One day a guy comes in with his date and location of birth, the astrologer looks over the info, gets pissed, yells "wrong!" and kicks the guy out without saying why. After some digging he found out he was adopted and his parents never told him, so the date and location were both wrong. Second hand story so I don't know if it's true but I do trust the person who told it to me.

Pisces are water (feeling/nurturing) signs, deep, feeling, intuitive people, who are very intelligent and sensitive. They can mope, or be self-pitying, but also have a wonderful sense of humor. My best friend, and a number of relatives are Pisces.

Oddly, I don't get along very well with Scorpios (water). They are a little too boisterous for me.

This. I'm a Gemini and am totally flighty. I am also you're best friend or enemy. My Ex fiancé was a Scorpio and we fought way too much. My husband of 10 years is a Pisces. He is a calm, sensitive deep thinker who completely balances me when I fly off the handle. I used to follow astrology for fun and almost didn't go out on a second date because I thought I knew our signs wouldn't work together. I enjoyed it while it lasted or so I thought but then I married him six months later.

So is there any basis? Maybe a little. Have fun with it but don't use it for the concrete of your answers.

Yes, it's a perfect way to identify really gullible people who will believe most anything like, there are exactly 12 types of people in this world and your type depends entirely on the date you were born.

You got married 6 months later? Wow, do tell about that. Geminis tend to be so logical and factual how did a Pisces man talk you into that?

Said Plato, and Aristotle, never.

Acknowledgement of possibility of correlation between physics and physiological behaviors in atoms that are created doesn't make you stupid. Rather, being on the receiving end of validated information and never exploring a scientific theory that could validate and reveal unknown facts increases intellectual capacity. Granted, no one places time into giving serious thought to validating astrology as a science, but until it is validated, you would sacrifice IQ points to simply dismiss the possibility.

Actually, it does. The measurements used to determine the zodiac signs were totally inaccurate anyway. What a load of crap. Read about it for fun, but I question the mental capacity of people who believe in this stuff.

Astronomy is science. Astrology is BS.

I believe that there's something to the zodiac.

DH and I are aquarius and libra. When we get together, it was pure magic. Read the zodiac for fun and it said "You two would be perfect for each other, but watch out for the destructive element." Yes, this has sadly come true.

My parents are aquarius and libra. They have similar squabbles as DH and I.

Yes, and the more you learn about the mathematics and ancient science behind it the more you realize how scarily accurate it is.

Zodiac signs per my observation are to a large extent accurate. Eg: Gemini men for eg. are serial cheaters or have multiple marriages. Eg: trump, Giuliani, Gingrich, the NY guy who was caught with high paid prostitutes, ( can't remember his name), John Edward the list goes on. It is creepy actually

Look at the real housewives. Brandi Glanville, Phaedra Parks, Bethenny Frankel- all Scorpios. You cannot tell me there's no commonality there

You are an idiot if you believe in astrology.

You are an idiot if you dismiss something out of hand that you have no idea about.

I don't believe in it, but I'm a Pisces and completely fit the description. People tell me that I read into it and could make myself fit any of the others and it's just not true - I'm completely a Pisces.

That doesn't mean I read my horoscope and believe it, because I don't.

I, like the person mentioned above, can often guess someone's horoscope sign just based on their personality traits. I've done it a few times with people and I haven't ever been wrong.

Awesome. That makes sense, because Pisces are one of the most psychic/intuitive signs. It's even more interesting and crazy accurate when you learn about rising signs, moon signs, different houses, etc.
