North Face vs. LL Bean

My take -- LL Bean is considered by some to be old and dowdy (see that one annoying pp) and some would consider North Face to be cooler in that it may be a better overall technical jacket for serious outdoor activities. But LL Bean will work for you just fine. And, as the other pp noted, you can take it back any time -- even 20 years from now if it doesn't perform the way you think it should.
PS - if you really want to be cool, buy it from REI and you will get a rebate at the end of the year because REI is an old-fashioned consumer cooperative.

LL Bean all the way. My kid is on her third year of her jacket, and it's still going strong, will be passed down to her sister next year. Mine is going on 8 years, and still looks and feels new. Love it!

LLBean, no question. North Face is overrated.

LL Bean totally stands behind their products. I would definitely go with LL Bean if the items were otherwise similar.

I replaced a 3/4 length North face parka with a the LL Bean version last year and haven't regretted it at all. The LL Bean feels better to wear and is actually warmer. It also washes really well and is a pretty color.

I actually really like the LL Bean outerwear that I've purchased. North Face is good, but part of the cost differential is a status thing, and I don't see the point.

And that is exactly why I would have to be desperate to buy a North Face anything.

The people who run LL Bean are really good people and will do just about anything to make sure the customer is happy.

North Face screams lemming to me. I also think it's passé.

Once Kayne or PDiddy are decked head to toe in a name brand--I'm done with it .

I have an LL Bean parka that I am constantly asked where I got it. There is no label on the outside. They only ran this one year and it sold out quick.

It's the perfect length and incredibly flattering.

North Face is not in that category.

totally disagree. It depends on where you live

I disagree. Unique is full of NF and I have to pay extra to give my NF clothes away that are spotless or even have tags on them.NF can be had for $40-$100 from 6pm or ebay.NF and killing is so yesterday, and actually haven't even heard of it. Killing and HH go together.
I'd choose LL Bean or Land's end. Want to be cool? Get Arcteryx or Norrona or Didrikson or maybe Canada Goose.

Off topic but will REI or LLbean have Black Friday sales? DH NEEDS a winter coat!

I got DD a NF jacket from Unique for less than $5 on a 50% off day. It had a stain on the front that came out the first time I washed it.

PP what do you you have to pay to give away NF? I totally don't understand what that means
