This is perfect. I'm religious but uncomfortable with in your face expressions of religion. We usually do one that says Happy Holidays, Joy, etc. I get cards all over the map- some extremely religious and some 100% secular. I've never cared either way, I love getting Christmas or holiday or New Year cards!

I usually order two versions, a "Merry Christmas" and a "Peace on Earth." The former go to those I know for sure celebrate the holiday, the latter go to everyone else. If anyone had problems with "Peace on Earth," then THEY are the problem!

Who gets snippy if your card isn't explicitly religious?

General printed message that can be interpreted to have religious meaning (joy, peace, etc) and your written note to the religious folks says something referencing the religious aspect.

Who gets snippy over a Christmas card? Not very much in the Christian spirit!

"Christmas card" and 'quandry' should never be used in the same sentence.
If this is that much of an issue time to send nothing and conveniently 'forget' to do cards this year because you're busy. Then never send them again! You're free!

I ordered some that said Be Merry and they're gray with some red, white and green but mostly gray I think. They have 4 pictures so the actual preprinted portion is minimal. I think Be Merry is a decent compromise IMO.

I use the same picture, but two different cars. One that says Mery Christmas for our Christian friends and one that says happy new year or something not religious for our Jewish/Muslim/not religious friends.

Why not buy packets of cards (different ones for your different groups) and put in a photo. I like the cards with designs that stand up on their own rather than printed cards that the sender hasn't written a personal greeting.

Years ago when I spent time caring we would make the bulk of ours say Merry Christmas. I would think about the few families that don't celebrate Christmas and make a couple extra at Walmart that said something generic. You can order inexpensively and there is no minimum.

Then life got busy and I figured everyone sees the kids on FB so only immediate family get cards these days. Digital to everyone else.
