Also, schools tightly monitor what the kids wear to school already. Would you think it appropriate if children wore sexually suggestive costumes? |
| Instead of trying to restrict other people, maybe request a parade just for the pre-schoolers or something similar. Holy entitlement. |
So that everyone can attend. You know, the SCHOOL event. Where my children go to school. |
One 4 year old SHOWED UP in that kind of thing. But seriously, I've been doing this for 6 years and there has never been anyone from that preschool that has turned a hair. The teachers are all there, plus lots of parents who come to take photos, and no one has ever said anything. The teachers from the elementary school dress up in non-scary costumes, some parents too, everyone is smiling and having fun, and I think that's the real reason why the little kids don't find it scary. |
What you suggested would be entitlement. I'm surprised you guys wouldn't try to be more inclusive of all the students. Oh well. No need to be assholes about it. You are probably the parents of that kid. |
No, you are just being ridiculous. |
Thank you for continually saying that you haven't witnessed it, which is totally irrelevant. From what I gather here, we'll just skip it in the future. But I will certainly be more mindful of all the students when my kids are older. |
| Yes, unreasonable. |
| So one 4 year old pre-schooler was upset and the whole school has to change? Man, early Elementry parents are THE WORST. |
| I dunno, OP. I think it would be nice if parents and older kids were more mindful. But people in general are jerks, as you see here. |
Do you all lack reading comprehension entirely? Try again. |

+1 And she truly thinks everyone else is being an asshole here. |
Can't argue with people who refuse to read the posts. Thanks all. Peace out. |
I'm not the OP, but I don't understand why any kid has to wear a gory costume anyway, especially to a school event. Yes, public schools should monitor this. They have dress codes in place any other time, why not for this? Desensitizing kids to blood, gore, etc. is much more harmful than bare shoulders and midriffs. |
