Got a biglaw offer, but the pay seems low

Anonymous
It's not big law, it's shitlaw. That's why.

OP, is this really your offer, or is it DH's offer, and you were secretly hoping for a ride on a more luxurious gravy train?
Anonymous
if this is a real post, that offer will be rescinded in 3...2...1...

OP here. I doubt partners at white shoe firms sit around reading internet fora.

Get this thread deleted ASAP. Don't take that offer, it is really low. I don't see you getting the $210K you are hoping for in the current market, but you don't have to take less than you would make in Government. Seriously, at my agency we have people 3-4 years out of school who make about 90 K and we work about 40 hours a week, and up to 2 days a week from home!

I don't think she's being too secret about her gravy train ambitions. I can only imagine the snit-fit she threw to her husband when she heard the offer.

It's not a white shoe firm, dear. Are you at an actual big law firm now?

NP. Don't be sexist. Besides, this thread is fun enough without that kind of comment.

See, I'm reluctant to leave my desk in case I miss an awesome burn before OP gets smart and has this deleted.

I was on the hiring committee at my biglaw firm. I don't understand the outrage of the question.

Because OP should know the difference between big law and insurance ID law.

Have the words white shoe and Big law lost all meaning? Also, your biggest concern isn't that some partner is reading this site on a Friday morning. Your concern is that some legal secretary or paralegal or someone else who doesn't make $90,000 a year is reading this and pissed that you are so ungracious about the offer. That's the person that's going to forward this to the partners

It's not the question. It's posting it with all the specifics.
