My entire family of moderate republicans are voting for Hillary because Trump is shame of a presidential candidate who is misogynist, pandering to white supremacists, has no clue about global affairs and has the temperament of a 10 year old who can be incited with a tweet. Sorry not gonna trust him with nuclear codes if he has no control over his mouth or over his hands from tweeting. I am not surprised VA is no longer a purple state in this election. |

Most likely an impossible list.
1. Reversing the growing divide in our nation. 2. Exercise political compromise for the greater good. 3. Path to citizenship and meaningful & workable changes to immigration policy. |

Fixing our infrastructure (bridges, roads, water, energy, etc.) Income inequality |
My order as well. |
I'm guessing you both are liberals. |
| Don't Americans served a fully functioning co-equal branch of government? It isn't a "liberal thing." Imagine the outcry if a Republican chief executive had a nominee with stellar credentials who previously had the support of some of the most liberal members of the Senate and no hearings were held and, indeed, only one or two Democrats would meet with the nominee. |
Pp that you quoted here. Interesting. I was in Pennsylvania a couple weeks ago and was very surprised to hear from some of my democrat relatives & friends that they were planning on voting for Trump. While visiting my grandpa (who is VERY republican), my aunt came in, scoffed at my grandpa for watching Fox News, muted the tv and then when the topic of Trump came up she said she was voting for him & hopes he wins. I honestly thought she was joking until she kept talking about why. (She hates Hillary Clinton and thinks Donald trump will be good for the economy). Another friend of the family, on a different day, said she wasn't sure what she would do in November, vote Trump or stay home. She's never voted for anyone other than a democrat, so I assume she'll stay home. She also can't stand Hillary Clinton and said that the thought of her winning has made her seriously consider voting for Trump. I was also surprised that I saw quite a few Trump yard signs, but not a single Clinton yard sign. This was driving through the state to get to my destination and while driving around town where my family lives. |
There are many real examples that goes both ways and for those that pretend otherwise it's a folly designed to placate themselves. |
Totally agree with you! |
Nope a moderate republican turned liberal. The country has spent so much on needless wars, defense spending is eating away money needed for education, infrastructure etc. If this country comes this close to vote for TRUMP then the education system is not doing its job with developing critical thinking. I think decades of tax cuts has skewed income distribution to the top 1% and its about time to change that. Tax was very high during Reagan but with so many deductions Effective tax comes very low to very wealthy. So I agree with Buffett, Effective tax rate for anyone making over 500K income should be atleast 30% and capital gains tax should be atleast 30% as well. TIME TO bring the pendulum back to the middle. |
We both are doing anecdotes, mine is backed by poll in VA. But PA is still over 5% Dem leaning in the polls. Trump's problem is Philly suburbs are very diverse and has minority voters and educated voters and that population has increased. But the rural, small town PA population is declining with many older white voters dying and many others leaving the state for jobs in the south. So he not only has he to find 290,000 additional voters(the approx margin by which Obama beat Romney) but he should find those voters while he is bleeding the kind of voters that will vote for him WHILE the voters that dont vote for him are increasing. That is a huge odd and PA will turn out to be fools gold yet again for GOP. Maybe Kasich could have swung it. Maybe Rubio could have done it. Not Trump. |
I disagree with you that Kasich or Rubio would have a better chance (against Hillary Clinton). I think Trump is getting the support he's getting because he's NOT like Kasich, Rubio, Romney or any other republican candidate. I think that's why democrats are getting so angry at people on this board for saying they'll vote for Trump, I think they are worried that Trump might actually beat her. Hillary Clinton is very unpopular. And yes, I know that someone will argue that Trump is too, but it's different. |
You couldn't refute my logic and numbers, that itself shows the odds are against TRUMP. There are not enough TRUMP voters for him to win. You have to get Women voters, decent percent of minority voters and a big percent of educated white voters to win. No amount of you deluding yourself will get enough voters for Trump. The voters are in the middle, Trump is in the FAR right corner and fishing for middle voters. The problem for him is if he tries to come to the middle he will lose the Far right voters and vice versa. The only way to fix this conundrum is to start paying attention to the concerns of Minority and women voters. There is no other way. This is not 1980 anymore. The country has changed and its only a matter of time before TX becomes a purple state. Politicians are survivors. Watch how fast the moderate republicans dump the TRUMP AGENDA after the elections and make a run to the middle. |
np If Kasich were to hold traditional republican states and add Ohio and Pennsylvania that would be a huge shift. I saw a poll, can't find it now, that discussed the what if Kasich were the candidate as to how many he would retain from Trump, take from Hillary and gain from those who aren't committed to either. It was interesting. |
I don't need to refute your logic & numbers. I never said I thought Trump was going to win, I only said that I don't think Kasich or Rubio would have a better chance than Trump (against Hillary Clinton specifically), that's my opinion. And I said that I think some of the liberals on this board are so angry at Trump supporters because THEY are worried. I'll admit, I DO hope Trump wins, but that doesn't mean I believe it's going to happen. |
