How do you fit everything for the beach in the car??

Anonymous
Half a week of clothes only and even then what clothes do you need at the beach? I wear the same stuff (swim suit and a t shirt and shorts/skirt) and have one nice outfit for dinner. Only bring food I can't get there like TJs snacks and that goes in the cooler. All paper and groceries products are purchased at the store near the beach. No need to haul soda.
Actually we dint bring a cooler (only for day trips to rehoboth) because the house we go to is close to the beach and we don't eat at the beach. We walk back for meals.

Ideally, I'd like to bring the double stroller, but I know that's not going to happen. I already have three Whole Foods bags full of a few food items and soaps for each bathroom, plates, cups, paper products, dishwasher and laundry soap, etc.

Then there is clothing for the 4 of us, beach bag, cooler, towels, toys for the kids. I'm renting the crib and linens there.

I have a decent sized SUV, but even the single stroller takes up over 1/2 the back.

Do people just buy diapers, food, water, sodas, paper products, soaps, etc. at their destination? I feel like we are going to need to take two cars.

Is this necessary? I rent out our beach house, and these items are provided, and I restock them. I thought everyone did.

All the houses we've rented provide a tiny sample size of everything so you're not stuck on the first day but after that, you're going to need some more toilet paper, paper towels, and soap, and they tell you that in the rental agreement. I was thrilled when I found a rental agency in OBX that automatically provides sheets and towels. So much more convenient.

OP, the house will have dishes and a dishwasher but you'll need to bring the dishwasher detergent. We did bring paper goods but just bring enough to get you through the first couple of days. There is always a grocery store around if you run out.

Pack soft sided luggage and put them on the floorboard under the kids feet.

OP where are you going that you feel you will be completely removed from civilization.

How long are you there? You can Amazon Prime things to yourself there.

They sometimes have laundry detergent, but the last few I rented at the beach didn't even have a 1/2 roll of TP to get you started. It's definitely not common to keep the place stocked. Very nice of you to do that.

Give yourself a break and buy food when you get there. This is a vacation. Also, get a car carrier for clothes and soft things.

Definitely no need to take standard groceries. We used to take spices and a few things like tea that we didn't want to buy whole bottles/boxes of. Use beach towels to pad other stuff. They can be stuffed in anywhere.

Minivan. Bring whatever the eff you want.

Have to agree with the car top carrier. I bought one before this year's beach vacation and it was a miracle. Fits SO much stuff, was easy to pack, no problems with height, and reduced the largest source of vacation stress for me (ok, besides family issues, but those are eternal...)

This

Great for packing coolers or large Rubbermaid storage containers.

Agree. They don't do well on the sand so why bother with it? Can't you use a bjorn or something. Or just get an umbrella stroller which can slide under the seat.

How are you packing? Sounds like you have a lot dead space, over packing (paper goods, too many toys, how many clothes??), and areas you're not using efficiently.

What Suv do you have and how many people?

Why can't you buy food/paper goods etc when you're there? Or even better, get the paper goods, soaps, etc delivered by Amazon when you're there? And be strict on clothes, toys, etc - it's just a week!
