DH won't change work schedule for vacation - VENT

Are you going for vacation? Would it be possible to simply come back for that one appointment, or for your DH to miss part of vacation?

Then find another specialist with an opening.

Which day of the week is the appointment? If it is Monday or Friday, there may be a workaround.

Sorry, NO other availability...

If the doc requested the change, it's incumbent on them to offer you another time soon after the cancellation.

Still not buying this story...

Don't know many friends or family who would just be able to tell work "nevermind I need a different week off". Especially in summer when everyone takes vacation. This troll went a little too far trying to stir up the "dumb SAHM " drama

If you child has asthma and has to be seen by a specialist of that caliber, you probably should not be taking the child on a vacation. Maybe re-schedule vacation until after yur child is able to be seen by the specialist.

When your boss asks you to cover for him/her during their vacation, you do it. You certainly don't change your schedule at the last minute, after you said yes, to go on vacation at the same time as your boss.

Call the asthma doctor back and do some begging. Shift back to your original schedule.

I'm a SAHM but I'm team DH on this one.

Then get on the cancellation list, FFS.

Smh this is what happens when you don't work in the real world! He is the bread winner, it's not a medial emergency! Don't screw around with his job over a vacation reschedule it. Are you that out of touch with reality? You know what, nevermind, men who insist on having a sahm wife deserve what they get in the end.

Exactly. I've got kids with SN and I understand how hard it is to get into see an in-demand specialist (and how much it costs since the best ones usually are out of network). In this case, you talk to the receptionist/service, explain the situation and if she can't work something out for you, you get on the wait list.

Anonymous wrote:We had family vacation planned for two weeks from now, but younger son's asthma doctor had to move his appointment to that week. Fortunately, moving everything to three weeks from now is basically zero cost. Problem is DH- boss is supposed to be gone that same week and wants DH to run the office while he is away. I think DH should tell his boss he can't run the office that week, but DH doesn't want to. So, probably no vacation at all for us... I don't understand why DH doesn't prioritize family over work. End vent.

Take your choice-- vacation or DH with a job.

Team DH, too, but also maybe you could go without him?

Very feminist, DH's job (or my job) doesn't run our family woman here, but seriously? Team DH.

They call to cancel. You say, I'm sorry but we're out of town. They put you down for the next cancellation.

No, you don't screw around with July or August vacation schedule and work at the last minute.

Let me help you understand. In jobs, if your boss needs you to do something, particularly a big something, YOU CANNOT SAY NO. He isn't choosing to say yes, he doesn't have a choice.
