Dear black people, if you are torn between killing someone or doing meth, please do meth. Better kill yourself than some innocent child, mother, passerby.

Thanks

What exactly do you want your own local cops to do? Just curious. Please be specific.

NP.

Improve training on use of lethal force
End "Broken Windows" policing
Wear body cameras
End "Policing for profit" (i.e. raising revenue by hounding local residents)
Allow police to be interviewed by investigators the day of questionable incidents and not wait 5,10 or even 30 days like some states allow
Install civilian review boards

Broken windows policing was great. There's a huge body of research that when you address mischief/nuisance crime you preempt larger crimes that could end in bloody confrontation. Do AAs really want to live in neighborhoods with broken windows, graffitti, vandlism, purse snatchings? Broken windows is not the same as policing for profit, which I agree should be looked at.

Dear white people - stop acting like black people aren't responsible for the majority of wealth in this country but are treated as second class citizens. Acknowledge that a group of your white ancestors systematically terrorized black people and repeatedly tried to kill their humanity. Successful up-and-coming blacks were killed or permitted to rise. This shooting down of any progress over and over again got us to where we are today.

Know that you are a product of the hard work of blacks and whites using them as stepping stones.

We don't need your guilt. We need your acknowledge and action. The superiority (the belief that blacks somehow put themselves in this situation) is ridiculous. Some beliefs that ignore the numerous efforts at removing black progress (which is why there's so few) are counter-productive.

If you really believe that all lives matter, acknowledge that black people have savagely treated and the effects seen today are a result of continued degradation.

I am black and have mostly white friends (as result of where I live, profession, etc). I feel like they are completely oblivious to history and present day circumstances.

Noone should be held back. The world needs to stop holding back blacks then blaming them for their troubles. Yes, this is systemic. It will only be solves through ACTIVE efforts to move the black people that were held back forward. Let's start with education.

Broken windows policing put black kids in jail and gave them a record (now no longer to vote or get a job) for simple and stupid teenage crimes. Statistics show that white kids doing the same crimes got let off with a warning. White kids are able to get on with their lives. Black kids' lives are changed forever. The white kids who did get caught up in the system were immediately pulled out thanks to their family's wealth (ability to pay top lawyers, etc).

I know several black kids who didn't commit crimes but were "near the scene of the crime" and were jailed none the less. In the black community it is well known (thus the distrust of police). My husband and I always talk about how lucky we are to have avoided it (it could have easily been us though we are law-abiding citizens just like many of our friends are).

Are people not aware of these things or do they just not care?

This baffles me. For those of you who believe more black people should be put in jail, why do you think that? You can't ignore the facts that black people are targeted and on a preschool to prison pipeline.

Just because you provided labor doesn't mean you created wealth. The Africans who sold you as slaves created wealth. See the difference? It's silly to compare yourself to white people, the best you could have done absent slavery was stay in African as prisoners of war.

Without the Africans' labor, white people would not be wealthy. Period. They were weak and could only manage to create wealth on the backs of others.

You can pretend that you are superior all you want. One day, you will get a wake up call. Enjoy your stupidity while it can last.

Broken windows sounded good until people realized it was essentially a war on people who live in poor neighborhoods. It is a policy that skips right over economic development, education, etc. and leads directly to mass incarceration and eliminating the bonds between the community and the police.

Eric Garner being choked to death for selling loose cigarettes is the ultimate expression of Broken Windows Policing.

I am a good person. Of course I don't want to emulate your white ancestors - they were savage. I am civilized.

Luckily, most white people have come to understand these issues. You need to come from under your rock. Or on further thought, just stay there...

Let's be real. America is a country full of people who had the initiative and took the risk to leave what they know and move to the unknown for a better life. That is why the Protestants, Irish, Germans, Jews, Asians, Latinos, Middle Eastern refugees and countless other ethnic groups have managed to rise out of nothing and create success in a new country. In fact, recent immigrants from Africa are successful too.

The only group that constantly failed to achieve success for itself is the group of Africans who lost the war in their own country, then decided to blame all their bad fortune on white people. Because white people should be held accountable for the actions of their ancestors, but not black people, right? Face it, this is just natural selection at work - winners will be winners, and losers will be losers.

But I agree with you. Slavery was the worst thing the US ever did because it diluted our country of go-getters and people with a whole bunch of complainers and people who don't understand how to take control of their destiny like everyone other ethnic group. I hope someone does a real economics analysis around reparations, where we can calculate what would have happened to this group of black people had there been no slave trade.

+1. All this racial business, in 2016, is plain stupid.

Sorry to use that word, but that's what it is.
