End "Broken Windows" policing
Wear body cameras
End "Policing for profit" (i.e. raising revenue by hounding local residents)
Allow police to be interviewed by investigators the day of questionable incidents and not wait 5,10 or even 30 days like some states allow

Broken windows policing was great. There's a huge body of research that when you address mischief/nuisance crime you preempt larger crimes that could end in bloody confrontation. Do AAs really want to live in neighborhoods with broken windows, graffitti, vandlism, purse snatchings? Broken windows is not the same as policing for profit, which I agree should be looked at.[/quote]

Broken windows sounded good until people realized it was essentially a war on people who live in poor neighborhoods. It is a policy that skips right over economic development, education, etc. and leads directly to mass incarceration and eliminating the bonds between the community and the police.

Eric Garner being choked to death for selling loose cigarettes is the ultimate expression of Broken Windows Policing.[/quote]
