I find the statement "Hillary vs Trump" to be subconsciously misogynistic

If Clinton was President when the ACA was passed, would we be calling it "HillaryCare" instead of "ObamaCare"?

And FYI, I'm a man. I don't think people are doing this on purpose but I do believe it has the effect of lowering her status by not calling her by her last name which is generally considered more respectful.

Are you accusing Hillary is a misogynist? Her campaign buttons and posters are a big H, not a C.

I don't think it is. I'm a woman and a Hillary supporter. People refer to Bernie as Bernie all the time. I also think Hillary sounds warmer and makes feel people feel more connected to her. I think it works for her.

Perhaps you should take it up with Ms. Clinton herself, then. All of her signs, other merchandise, etc. is branded "Hillary". Her officially logo is an H with the arrow. I'm sure she would be interested in hearing about how her advertising is misogynistic and lowering her status.

Oh come on op. She's just one of the gals.

She branded herself as Hillsry in this campaign. I am sure it was done very intentionally for multiple reasons.
Anonymous
She branded herself as Hilllary to disassociate herself from Bill Clinton.

If she were a true feminist, she would not have dropped her maiden name and it would be Rodham versus Trump. Shame, she caved into Arkansas politics.

I think many are.

It is a common phenomena in our culture to refer to men by last names, women, children and serving staff etc. By first names. Sociolinguists love to chew this stuff up. Deborah Tannen spends a lot of thin in her books n this sort of thing. To call it misogynistic is a little extreme, though you modified it with unconscious which is probably more accurate. It does connect to gender roles. If you modify it in your own speech and go out of your way to be consistent it will eventually catch on.

This is also a good point; parallels to the "Redskins" discussion (ie does not bother 9/10 Native Americans but bothers people on their behalf?).
