Where do you go to high school?

If you are not a troll - what about these colleges are appealing to you?

I'll get to stay on the east coast. I'd love to go somewhere like UVA or Swarthmore, but I'm being realistic.

UVA or Swarthmore...or a yeshiva? UVA and Swarthmore are nothing alike, other than having smart kids, and the yeshiva seems like an odd one to throw into the mix of completely random schools. Was this the dartboard method of college selection? What are you looking for other than "east coast".

Every high school senior's list of colleges looks a bit random, unless he's just taking the top n schools from some popular albeit more-or-less random published ranking. Hundreds of good colleges can be a perfect fit for a student even though they don't have big brand names.

I think the concern here is that one of the students chosen schools is a yeshiva. Google it if you don't know what it means.

But the colleges on his list aren't really even good colleges.

I googled Yeshiva, and it's a Jewish school. What's wrong with that? It's also ranked along the lines of Lehigh, Wisconsin, etc. Not bad schools by any means.

Now google the Jewish school the OP is considering applying to - Beth Medrash Govoha.

Let me put this in terms the goyem will understand: This school is not just a religious school. It's not just a Jewish Notre Dame. It is the Jewish version of a Divinity School. Like a school where one goes to become a Rabbi.

No one's making you go there.

I believe the PP is suggesting that it does not seem likely that OP is seriously pondering whether to attend Beth Medrash Govoha vs. the other schools listed, just as it is highly improbable that anyone out there with a 3.86 GPA in fairly rigorous classes (not to mention the perfect score on the reading and writing parts of the SAT!) is fretting about whether the lack of AP calculus will doom his chances to attend Lock Haven University.

It seems almost like an effort to spoof some of the more over the top "chance me" posts on College Confidential, which is an odd thing to do on an unrelated message board.

It's more important to me to go to a college where I'll be happy than to go to a "good" college. It'll be the same thing when I look for jobs. I'm going to take a job that I enjoy but pays less over a job that's stressful but pays more any day.

Then being a rabbi will be a good fit. Will you be the first Episcopal rabbi?
