Desperate for a good book. Seriously.

WAY too fluffy for me! I like bestsellers, but they need to be a bit more meaty than that.

A lot of these seemed too graphic for me.

Do you know how to read a book review? Go on Amazon and read reviews on the suggested books for books you have already read OR go into a book store and ask someone to help you.

Am I not allowed to ask here? Am I bothering you? I could go on Amazon (and have) or go to a bookstore, but what's wrong with asking for suggestions here...?

The Thorn Birds

And Ladies of the Club

Both remind me of Gone with the Wind. I think you'll like them.

The Red Tent
Girl with the Pearl Earring
Memories of a Geisha
The Poisonwood Bible

All great ones from 15+ years ago .

Or she can ask others for book suggestions. Like she's doing here.

Did you read Me Before You?

Just finished Station Eleven- very readable, great character development. Also loved Life After Life by kate atkinson, if you haven't read it.

Third for Poisonwood Bible. Which I read the year DS (16) was born....based on Hillary Clinton saying it was one of her favorite books. I then proceeded to read all Kingsolver books.

Go get that one and report back to us!

Forgot to add Girl with a Pear Earring, and also most Tracy Chevalier books. If you like that genre, there are many others that are similar.

Spoiler alert, but Poisonwood Bible has at least one of the things on the OP's "no go" list. I am having a hard time thinking of adult books that have no violence or deaths of children.

Another "oldie" The Way the Crow Flies

If OP reallly wants books with no violence at all, she probably should just stick with fluflfy books like Shopaholic.
