Well, he is older and self-sufficient, so not vulnerable to Jim-Bob's machinations as Ben is. Also, he's educated (Syracuse) and a professional soccer player, so presumably he has to travel. Maybe that will mean Jinger (whose name is ridiculous) may see more of the world.

Then again, Jill married an educated man as well, and he has turned out to be a Jim-Bob discipline and an overall big disappointment. So who knows.

I give Derek credit for getting them out of Dodge when the whole scandal emerged. (Apparently God told him that it was time for him and his wife and baby to go spread the Word in Central America.) I doubt Papa Duggar was pleased.

He quit his stable job (the Duggars don't have jobs, they just grift) to go on the "mission field." Very Duggar-esque. Which is a shame.

I was thrown off by this news, but then seeing that part about him pursuing full-time ministry briefly gave the story some sense. He just seems like someone who'd be way too overly experienced for someone like Jinger. Very strange pairing, but fantastic if it is/will be a genuine, serious connection.
