The best almond milk is the Trader Joe's brand unsweetened vanilla in the refrigerator section.

I make homemade almond milk using a mesh bag. I soak the almonds a few hours, toss them in my vitamix with some water, and blend on high. Then I squish the milk through a small mesh bag you can buy in the produce section at some stores. It is a normal milk consistency.

I use mine for homemade hippie coffee. I strain it, put it back in the rinsed blender with cocoa and honey, then add trader Joe's cold brew coffee. So good.

I'm a PP. It sounds great (though I would never put it in coffee), but so much work. I'm too lazy. I'll buy almond milk (in the single serving containers, because that lasts me about a month, if not two).

I hate milk/ never drink it/ only ever use it in cooking, and almond milk works just as well in my recipes that call for cow milk. And I would hate to contribute to the abuse of dairy cows- they suffer and live horrible lives until they are killed.

You can feel like this all you want, but milking cows doesn't actually hurt them at all. I can understand not eating meat for this reason but using this reasoning for milk is just stupid. And FYI just because you are not "contributing" doesn't mean anything to the cows. But I guess if it makes you feel better, you do you.
