We got THREE of these. We have one bathroom.

This is why registering for gifts is a good idea.

I'd still rather have 3 of them then the 26 blankets I have! I'd keep one in the bathroom and one in the kitchen if I didn't have additional bathrooms. Not sure what I'd do with the third though.....

Do the math for what season it will be when she is in nine month or twelve month clothing and buy some practical items for then. It's nice to have something already for when the baby outgrows things.

A very unexpected but great gift was a year of photography - 3, 6, 9 and 12 month sessions. Made for some wonderful keepsake photos. I also loved things that were friends' favorite go to items. As a first time parent I really loved knowing what worked out for others. Doesn't mean they all became our favorites but it was a very nice starting point.

We got a miracle blanket swaddler. That thing was the best.

Also loved the jumperoo we got (for older babies, past 6 months). Man he loved that thing.

I like this idea in theory, but my 3.5 month old is in 6 and 9 month clothes now. We have tons of nice 12 and 18 month gifted winter clothes that will likely be out of season for our giant girl. Maybe if going this route stick with multi-season pieces?

We loved the personalized/monogrammed hooded bath towels - my kids still use them all the time and they are 6+. Etsy has a lot of vendors who make them in pretty colors with creative monograms and trim. Nice $30 gift.

We have one of these, and the stupid puzzle pieces stick to our feet when we use it and come out. Hate that thing.

Best gift (besides the things we had on our registry) was a major haul of hand-me-downs: Pack & Play, Rock 'n' Play, Co-Sleeper, Bassinet, Citi Mini, mei tai, bathtub, activity gym, & a year's worth of clothes. Amazing.

I suggest if your person has a registry, the best idea is to get her something from it--so many people ignore them.

A year of photos is a great and very generous gift! I also liked the experienced parents go-to items. Even if they didn't all end up working for us, it is still really helpful stuff overall.

A wooden block engraved with all the birth details.

Something like this: https://www.craftefamily.com/gift-ideas/baby-gifts/personalized-baby-block

It's cute, personalized, and most of all - it's tiny! So it doesn't take up much room.
