Tatoos -- any moms have them?

Anonymous
I got a small one at age 35, on my inner ankle. I got one where I could see one, because otherwise, why have it?

I went to Dragon Moon in Glen Burnie, because it has an excellent reputation for cleanliness.

I don't like the post from the pp about seeing peoples reaction. Peoples reaction can be very different, but you shouldn't care as long as you're getting the tatoo for you, which is the only reason you should.
I have two tatoos, one ony shoulder when I was 19 and one on my hips last year in Miami.
I have them on places where I can easily hide them because I didn't want to be at a disadvantage by applying for jobs, and with 19 I had no idea what I might do when I'm older.

There is a great place in Bethesda. I got my Miami tatoo overdone there. They are very clean (got my nice pierced there) and I went to Lea. She was great and her background is also tatoo artists.

But think hard about it. Choose a disign, take is home, if you still like it a week or so after go and get it done!

Good luck

I have one on my hip that I got about 12 years ago. I still like it , although I wish I'd gotten it a tad smaller.

If you are worried about what people think b/c you have a tattoo, then you really should not be getting one.

You should get one b/c you love it, and if you love it, then be proud of it!

However, I do understand that there are situations that it would need to be covered up. So be smart as to where you put it. That said, when it does not need to be covered up, wear it proudly!!!!!!

I simply meant for some jobs. You can still have a full sleeve tattoo if you want...but if you work in an office situation that requires it to be covered, then it needs to be covered. Granted, most people with full sleeve tattoos are not working in office situations. I know quite a few lawyers with many tattoos that are visible when they are not in court/the office. But they are ALWAYS covered when they are on the job.

I think it's trashy; I don't care how popular it's gotten. And, from what I've seen, most women who get them seem to get them in places where they really don't need extra attention (flabby arms, dimpled pudgy small of the back, etc.). And when they get old?? Yuck!!

If someone is still looking at my "trashy" tattoo when I'm eighty, I'll be doing OK in my book. Hehe. Why are you checking out my flab anyway?

I find that by having a gigantic tattoo, people stare at my awesome tits, firm ass, great hair, and large diamonds far less than they used to.

Or... Darn...I was really hoping this tattoo was going to help me get laid.

I am getting one for my fortieth birthday, towards the back of my right hip and lower back. I am getting two large and very colorful flowers to represent my two children. I have not yet decided if hubby and I will be added as two birds or two bees.

You have a tremendously narrow scope on "office situations." I work for a large, international company that fully embraces diversity. I have at one person in my department with full leg and full sleeve tattoos, and there are probably 50 more on my campus of 5,000 employees. I won't even start to mention all of the body piercings and blue, purple and green hair I see on a daily basis too.

I have a small one (about 1" square) at the top of my right butt cheek. I had wanted one since I was 18, but didn't get it until my 35th birthday! I realized then that if I still wanted one, it wasn't some stupid kid impulse. It's Curious George because I love monkeys and he's my favorite monkey. The location was chosen because (a) that's where i have the most body fat, so it didn't hurt much, and (b) i can easily pull down my jeans an inch and show it to someone, but it's never visible when i don't want it to be, even in a bathing suit.

I've had it two years now and have never regretted it - I forget about it sometimes, and seeing it in a mirror still makes me smile. I may get another one on the other butt cheek. It didn't hurt much. Most of it felt like being poked with the tip of a steak knife, and a couple of times it felt like the knife was dragged lightly over the skin, which hurt a bit more.

i had it done at Jinx Proof tattoos in Georgetown. They're pricey but they're very professional and careful about cleanliness. I took in a picture and they drew it for me. Hint: if you think there's even the slightest chance you might someday regret it, get something simple and don't get it colored in - just have black ink. it's the easiest to remove. and when picking a location, keep in mind that some people do judge people with tattoos, especially employers. Be wary of anything that would be visible at a company picnic (bathing suit?) or a formal event (backless gown?)

I got a tattoo, a chain of flowers, around my ankle when I was 20. I still like it, don't regret it, but it's true I wouldn't decide to get one now if I didn't already have one.

My tattoo's never given me a problem in the workplace. I've worked exclusively in offices, in politics, at large national organizations, and no one's looked at me twice.

I have one on my right shoulder blade. It's a baseball, about 2" diameter. I got it in my late 20s. It is never visible at work, and is visible in a strapless dress or bathing suit. I love the tattoo. My husband loves it too. So does my daughter. I don't think that tattoos are really appropriate for work, but I have another side of myself. Shoulder blade is good because it won't get fat and saggy.
