Gorgeous building.

Teacher housing? I see that it has dorms, but...

What's Washington Leadership Academy about?

THIS is exactly why OP should have kept their mouth shut until we have the signed paperwork.

Not OP and also a Lee parent who would have preferred this kept off here, but if an announcement is sent to 200 parents it is a public announcement. None of this would have been shared without being practically set in stone, and without the expectation it would end up here.

PP, this building has been commercially available for months. You can likely find the price.

Congratulations Lee families and good job for your administration for finding a great work around in a year when DGS isn't letting any surplus buildings for bid.

Everything ends up on DCUM, duh. Get over yourselves. It not that serious to get in your feelings over a "public" announcement being made on this forum.

That building looks lovely. Is there green space or a playground?

Listing says 9 acres. Seems like a lot of maintenance.

It's actually been available for years but still can't find the list price.

No, in Edgewood. Please don't buy into realtor hype by calling everything Brookland.

Any word on how they are financing it? Difficult to imarine how the schools would fill the buildings with enough kids in the first few years.

I"m sure the financing is sound. No one has ever insinuated that Lee doesn't know what its doing on that front. The other school, Washington Leadership Academy/Democracy Schools was founded by the same person that founded Democracy Prep in New York and is also partnered with the Walton Foundation and City Bridge. Say what you will about them, but they get things done. Their initial charter called for at least a partial boarding school model, so this site makes a lot of sense for them.
