This. You don't want to have to deal with the admissions process again, and Maret is a great school. Honestly, this seems like a no brainer to me. |
Yes, but it is not a "no brainer" for her because she posted here. The schools are both great, but there are differences. OP, what is it that speaks to you at each school? In what ways do you believe each school is a good fit for your child? |
| OK, OP. What's it going to be? |
| Sheridan! |
| Maret. |
| We are thrilled with Sheridan (1st grade now.) What made our final decision was the admitted families meeting (I think this year's is next week?) If, as they've done in year's past, they have a student's panel, I think you will find some of the happiest, engaged - smart funny articulate kids anywhere. Seeing them and hoping for the same for our daughter, we felt secure in choosing a school that even often jaded 7th and 8th graders seemed proud of and happy to be at. It is a warm, nurturing school and we really like the community of families (smart, diverse, open.) You know your kid - and yes - go with your sense of where she will thrive. |
| Sheridan is outstanding. |
You know, I'm sorry, but I'm getting so tired of this line. ALL schools do this. ALL schools put their smartfunnyarticulatehappiestengaged students on the panel. All schools have kids like that and guess what -- all schools have kids who probably aren't that happy. These people are in sales. You have to remember that. |
| Maret: If you change your mind, you can always apply to Sheridan and try to get in for first. However, if you go to Sheridan and change your mind, the chance of gaining admittance to Maret is a much longer shot. |
m Winner! |
| There won't be a spot in Sheridan's first. It's not an expansion year. |
|
Maret - no question.
Even if later you do not like Maret for high school it will be easier to get into school of your choice from Maret; not so much from Sheridan. |
