Coming from Bloomingdale. Not sure if it's worth it for us to include it on our list if the commute would suck. My office is at Penn Quarter. Not sure if there is any way to avoid N Cap.

I go to YY close to CM from Truxton Circle, up 1St NW to R St NW to N. Cap. Takes about 15 minutes given traffic. After parking and walking kid into school and drive back home takes about an hour but I go back down 1St NW from Rhode Island. I would estimate about an hour drive round trip to CM. It's mostly the traffic back downtown that is a PITA.

Maybe you'll get into MV...

2025, but looking to extend (complicated process with its being on the grounds of a federal facility) and optimistic about getting the extension.

My son has a classmate whose parents bring her up from Bloomingdale (I dont' know where they go after), but they say it's easy going up North Capital.

Going up should be fine but driving back down is the problem . May be a deal breaker for us.

Our DC is at CMI and I avoid North Capitol by taking Rock Creek Church Rd down to 4th St and then a left onto Florida. There is no traffic this way.

I live downtown and work downtown and this is similar to what I do. I also carpool occasionally with a few other downtown parents.

Does anyone commute to CMI from Cap Hill? We are considering it as our top spot and although its a long shot, I don't want to put there if the commute is going to be misery. We would have not considered it all if it was still in Columbia Heights/Adams Morgan.

I saw a previous poster on another thread (can't remember which one) mention that their commute was 40 minutes one way from Capitol Hill. Hope this helps!

Yikes. I can't imagine that would be for this year, but who knows I guess. At its old location, that would be right during the week. I would expect closer to 15 minutes each way at its new location, but I'm not sure. We walk to our so-so school now but its still a big selling point!

One of my child's classmates lives on the hill, says his commute is 30 minutes.

They must travel the same way as another poster who claims to drive to Sidwell in 20 minutes from the hill

Why would you put CMI as your number one choice if you live on the Hill? You'd be driving past like 6 better schools. No offense.
