For gloves will these do http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00M28N9BA?refRID=Q376T9S9YF8880VZNB14&ref_=pd_ybh_a_9 ?

No, and those get rotten reviews. Try:
http://www.amazon.com/Simplicity-Womens-Thinsulate-Waterproof-Outdoor/dp/B00RE8TFX4/ref=sr_1_3?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1452648121&sr=1-3&nodeID=7141123011&keywords=ski+gloves

Also, ask friend and neighbors if you can just borrow gloves and/or a helmet and goggles. I bet someone will lend them to you.

Goggles that don't for your face well are bothersome. Try them on. You can order 10 pairs from rei.com and return all but the best one to the store. You don't need to spend a lot.

Make sure you like your gloves. No mitts for snowboarding.

New to the area and don't have friends that ski or snowboard regularly to have specialized gloves, helmet or goggles.

I am considering these for goggles http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=38353096&prodFindSrc=cart
or http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003902EOS/ref=nav_timeline_asin?ie=UTF8&psc=1

yay or nay?

This has turned into a "shopping with friends" experience on DCUM as I fill my shopping cart lol! Thank you to all your lovely ladies who have responded!

Go to Dicks/REI/target/wherever and try them on. If they don't fit, you will be annoyed. Or wait till your at the slope and head to the ski shop there - though you will pay for the convenience.

I'm not sure if they have them everywhere, but DH uses gloves from Costco--and his goal is to ski 50 days this season.

For skiing you want thin socks, not thick ones. I like smarteool Ph.D. Ultralights, but am not familiar with non-wool options. You want a layer of air between your foot and the boot. I don't know about snowboarding (ugh) but whatever you do, do not wear more than one pair.

OP here. I am a lady.

Thanks again for the synthetic sock recommendation. I was hoping to finish my cart order through Amazon tonight so I could have everything by the weekend, but maybe I will find time tomo during lunch break to swing by REI before completing my Amazon purchases.

Any more feedback or recs for the goggles?
Should they fit snugly or have enough room for someone wearing glasses to be able to fit those in too? I am a contact wearer so it's a non-issue for me but I am concerned about the fit.

re: Costco, I tried there! Gaithersburg location is out of women's gloves. They have men's and children's. Go figure. I may venture and try Wheaton's Costco but it's a bit out of my way and depending on the time of day, I rather not deal with Georgia Ave. traffic.
